About age limitations

More technical question. What do you think of a best comic age limit? 16+ 18+ 21+ 68+?

My project is definitely 18+. The story (in overall) is too harsh and it would be more a fairy tail if I`ll do it less explicit and violent.
Yours? Why?

The one I'm currently working on is going to be18+ or rated M for mature because it's extremely violent, has swearing and nudity. I'm also not nice to my characters either...

I'd like to think of mine as all-ages but that's probably not true (is there even a true all-ages work?). Mine's got a character who smokes and there will probably be drinking of alcoholic beverages along the way. There won't be any swearing or talk of sex. So I dunno...Maybe 14+ or something. (??)

Well this whole thing becomes a shot in the dark really. Depending on which country you are in a more mature rating is based on different things. In the United States of America things that involve nudity and sexual content is what would deem them mature where as you can have someone blown away with a shotgun and still be PG13. Where as in some European countries it is the exact opposite where violence is the thing that you are considering for a mature rating and sex is something that can be presented to teenagers on up.

Honestly most teens know about sex and violence since they are constantly exposed to both in the age of the internet. So as long as neither your violence or sex is overly graphic most content would easily be considered 13+.

Again though this is all on depends on the viewer. Some people aren't going to be reactionary to material where as some people will be upset by the simple presence of to much air.

My comic Strike Pup is an 18+ comic because it has some cursing, with nude scenes about to be introduced. On Inkblazers, it was labeled a "Seinen" comic.

This has been an interesting subject for me, while writing the script for Burning Bright. Technically speaking, I think it might fall under the 16+ category, but I don't really want to limit anyone from reading it.

There will be some graphic and harsh scenes later on, as well as nudity - and definitely swearing - but as I mentioned in one of my Interlude pages, I'm going to be very loose with the NSFW tags. If someone is making a comic with the sole purpose of it being porn, that's understandable why it would be labeled 18+, but even so, people (and definitely kids) are aware of so much more than they were even a couple years ago when I was in college and high school.

When I put in scenes that might be considered NSFW, it's only because I want to make this story as real as possible, and I'm sure we're all aware at this point that life isn't always clean

So as of right now, my comic is 13+, even though that age should probably be higher.

I think it`s much more easy to start with adult content. But E or 6+ is much more commercial. But I do prefer M and R.

Alright but I am in the middle of revamping pages so you'll be in for a little wait unfortunately ): Thought I'd go all digital but my line art in my traditional work just has a better feel to it xD I hope to get the pages up within two weeks. Right now, my story, Legend of John the Parakeet, I would say it is currently 13+, but at a later point in the current chapter, there's going to be some swearing, and possibly a bit of bloodshed so that will change, probably to 16+.

My current series, Half-Moon, is mainly geared towards 13+. This is because the story features realistic and fantasy violence, scary images, alcohol reference, and probably some suggestive themes. I really wouldn't let anyone younger than 10 to read it, unless they're REALLY mature about stuff like that.

I think it also depends on what audience you want to target. You could make a 16+ story that doesn't have any mature content, but is just so super complex it would take someone that age to understand it.

For my comic, it's a little tricky. It's at least 13+ because of the violence, adult situations, and language, but also has very complex themes and story lines that would take someone older to understand. So I think probably it's between 13+ and 16+ for now until some of the more serious stuff happens.

Hi! I'm Josie-JES! and I think 14+ would be the best for a large audience but it's really hard to tell what's suitable for that.
My comic,The Jade Heart,I'd put in the 16+ category for a number of reasons,like a blood pact for a dark entity that happened in my last chapter.I'm kinda glad it's up to us to be ''responsible'' about it and the moderators don't force age ratings on the comics.

Uzuki is 16+, mostly because some of the humor may not be understood by anyone younger than that, or may be inappropriate (but not too inappropriate that it would have to be an 18+ audience).

Time Gate is tricky. It's not 18+, but I'd definitely rank it for a bit more of a mature audience when it comes to some of its themes, so I'd say it's about 17+ for a mature audience. Although some of the humor in it is fine for those younger, the overall plot and themes - especially later on - would be better suited for young adults.
