Pardon this long eyesore of a promo. Had no patience to fix the aspect ratio on some of these images. Hope you can read the red text at least!

*Welp, can't read most of the speech bubbles here, lol! If ya wanna know, then read:

(post withdrawn by author, will be automatically deleted in 24 hours unless flagged)

Hopefully I didn't raise the bar too high! But I LOVE to overdo my promos when I can. It's just too fun!

I feel ashamed that I really just dropped my link in a bunch of these normal promo threads in the beginning. I saw others doing that and thought "okay, seems like the way they do it here. Seems... pointless, but who am I to say that.".
But I really like this approach here!
I'm... super bad at self-promo, but I'll try my best.

Should be a piece of cake...
Here we go
- Take some super overdone clichès:
Good vs. evil, angels vs. demons
A damsel in distress
A hot guy with a fortress and countless servants
Power imbalance
A romance against all odds, enemies to lovers
- Season it with:
Some more fantasy elements
A certain darkness
Grown-ups (get the stuff that's a bit more aged, like 30+)
Some action
Some of the other action
- Stir it and make sure that the large chunks are crushed. New, more complex flavours should spark as a result:
There is no black and white, only gray in different nuances
This "damsel" can and will fight back hard
Didn't you know that fire burns? And no pampering in sight...
Power is a question of circumstances and perspective
Love doesn't fix anything miraculously, relationships are hard work
-The consistency should be chewy but not fall apart. Enjoy in slow pace

Sooo, I hope you get where we're going.
If you enjoy diving into darker topics, a harsher world, into the despair of being an angel imprisoned by a demon, well, I have something for you.
There won't be much horror- or gore-like elements, but you can expect a lot of other heavy, maybe even disturbing stuff. I'm not fond of adding drama for dramas sake. And it's also just not necessary... cause there're a lot of bad things happening anyways. Just because the world is like it is.
But this story is not a feast of darkness, there's always a bit of hope, a ray of light.
Cause... why going on, when it's all doomed from the beginning?
So, romance and love are there. But they're not easy.
It's all a question of the decicions made. What is one willing to fight for? And how much is one willing to pay...

Whoa, this is an intense promo piece! :scream: And while I couldn't read all the bubbles, it was easy to get the meaning overall.
Thumbs up!

I like what you told about the process of the making, how you based the setting on your hometown, what inspired you and such. :grinning:
And thank you for starting a thread like this. Feels way more satisfying and informative than the others.

Here's "French Cup", a comedy about drag queens in Tokyo at war with Karens trying to invade their neighborhood from a new four star hotel that just went up nearby! You have no idea how funny this book is. There's a baby goat, zombies running after Karens, gothic drag queen storybook hour with children, and lots of cake. You will cry laughing. Come join us!

Love this idea!

Do you like, magic, dark fantasy, creepy stuff, necromancers and BL? Well then, have I got the story for you! Here's the cover and summary:

The lead, Cassian is a necromancer who gave up the life to become a hermit after being used as a sacrifice. He's also kinda mean and doesn't like people. This meme best explains Cassian:

Luckily he got away! Unluckily he's got to deal with being near death while in hiding with the magic staff he stole when he escaped. And that's when Elias, our loveable thief comes in to ruin Cassian's life! Now they're traveling together while dealing with this sort of relationship:

They love each other, they just don't know it yet. :smile_01:

They also have to deal with undead creatures and puppets sent by the villain, Ethelred (creepy guy in bone mask on the cover), who's trying to get both the pieces of the staff and Cassian to finish the ritual Cassian got away from. Here's a rough sketch of said creepy staff:

The story has drama, action, humor, and some romance later on down the line! It won't be updating while the judging on the contest stories is done, but you can check it out and catch up in the meantime!

Check out Luma if you're interested in high fantasy with worldbuilding revolving around the regular mortal interactions with gods, and the stories of the dead. In my world, there are beings dubbed "Demigods" that share half a soul of a god's and half a soul of a mortal. There are three in the world, and they are in a constant reincarnation cycle, with their identifying feature being their one golden eye.

The Demigods serve to be the bridge between mortals and gods, and to exorcise spirits, which the gods are unable to have power over. The story is centered around one of the demigods, as she grapples with her individuality in a world that only views her for her abilities and duties. It is a coming-of-age story with found family aspects.

Some insight into the worldbuilding includes gods living on the sun, stars being literal souls that journey to the moon. The sun has trees made of crystal

My protagonist has ability to control light, which is seen in the comic as the "physical aspect of life (Luma)". Her weapon also is plant-based and can grow bigger or smaller based on her will.

The series also has a good amount of action if it is something you are interested in

t

I also try really hard to make the character interactions also have some physicality and using the environment instead of just talking to each other.

Right now it is nearing the end of the first arc so tensions and emotions are high.

Anyways that's what I got to sell you guys. Check it out if interested~

I hope more people would read my story! If you're a gamer and likes to read isekai romance fantasy novels please check out my work! It revolves around a girl who got transported to the world of her favorite gacha game (like Genshin Impact for example) inside the body of an NPC who was meant to die in the narrative, perpetrated by the game's anti-hero! To change her fate in this second life, she has to change his fate in the process as well, which could lead to something else!

Novel cover:

Going on with a bit of a classic adventure style story, where the cast is a recently-found group of people, that go through lots of troubles which forces them to bond. First three volumes are set ups for the group, some lore and the overarching antagonist.

Main characters and the main villain are interlinked in the same manner the other characters and their monster/otherworldly companions are (think digimon/tamer style of relationship).

What else? Water is the main factor/ element of the villain. Firbolgs are kinda magical beings/ Humanity is set somewhere in the future, where their tech is actually another antagonistic element to this parallel world. Some romance, nothing too deep, action scenes here and there;

If you were sent you on a trip across the galaxy, who would you take with you?

Four to seven strangers? Loosely qualified? Most of them teenagers with deep-seated issues? Unfortunately due to budget cuts, I don't have the funds to send you into space with them, but I can offer a simulation.

By reading Galactiquest, you can vicariously experience all your wildest dreams of being an astronaut under a barely funded space "military." Experience the wonders of space travel, friendship, and NASA if it were held together by duct tape and bureaucracy gone wrong.

It may sound like all of this makes for a bumpy ride. It does. There's no way around the bumps. Sometimes you can smooth them over with humor, and sometimes you have to face them head on with your heart bared. Sometimes that's scary, but having people around who want to understand you and are willing to stick around while you become your best self smooths things out a bit.

Galactiquest is ultimately about a group of people trying their best under a bad situation. Some are dealt worse hands than others or are less equipped to handle what they've been given, but because they're trapped together hurtling towards the unknown, they don't have to do it alone no matter how much they've convinced themselves otherwise.

Also, there's illustrations for most of the chapters. There's a new one coming out in like four hours.

I've been meaning to show this off somewhere, but here's someone kindly reading most of the first chapter if you want a quick taste of the story's vibe.

Here's my slice-of-life comic called Haru and Tsukasa! One of the main protagonists, Tsukasa, is different from other male protagonists. Can you guess what that is?

That's right! He's a rare example of a male protagonist who loves to crossdress and is portrayed positively for it! Isn't he adorable?

Not only that, but we've also got a tomboy named Haru as his best friend.

But wait! You might be saying to yourself, haven't we already seen tomboys in other media?

And you'd be right, but what makes Haru unique is that she's a relatable female lead that male readers can also appreciate! Just look at one of her many antics that she goes through!

I'm sure there are plenty of boys and girls alike who can relate to Haru's forgetfulness!

Haru and Tsukasa is not a comic series that is targeted specifically towards a male or a female audience. It's for both to enjoy. Heck, even non-binary folk can read this comic as well! I know I am one!

So if you want to read a comic that subverts societal norms about men dressing up as women, or if you want a female protagonist whom you can relate to on a universal level, Haru and Tsukasa is the comic just for you!

Are you a fan of dark fantasy novels? Or perhaps you enjoy slice-of-life stories? "The Flower and the Warlock" offers a blend of both! I know there are numerous titles with similar themes, but hear me out!

In "The Flower and the Warlock," you will follow the journey of Arjana Talarus, a young princess lost and seeking her path back to the flourishing kingdom of Paria.

Arjana faces a dilemma; she awakens in an unfamiliar land with no memory of her arrival. She is not alone, however, as she is cared for by a stranger named Birger Bramblewood. Initially, all appears well, but Arjana is soon tormented by a mysterious illness. To complicate matters, her guardian, Birger, seems to be concealing secrets of his own.

Follow Arjana's journey as she unravels the enigma of her unexpected arrival in an unfamiliar territory, all while combating a peculiar sickness that afflicts her. This tale reveals that appearances can be deceiving.

I just posted the first chapter of a new series I started as a test of my biggest challenge and experiment so far! To see if I could write an exciting martial arts & assassin story as prose! 🥋

I’m a big lover of martial arts, Wuxia and old Hong Kong movies, as well as fighting games like Street Fighter, and been wanting to tell a story like that for a long time, but always thought you could only do that visually with like a movie…let’s see if that’s true! :punch:

Here's my comic, the Eye of Vyrius!

Do you like family based dramas?

Do you like dark comedy?

Do you like action? (Okay there's no action in the current chapters, but there's plenty of fighting planned soon)

It follows the story of Reizt Wilder, a five year old dealing with an abusive father, a crazy sister, and school bullies.
It's a semi-autobiographical story, based on my experiences growing up in the early 90s and 2000s Australia, except in a fiction country called Touran, where there's monsters, magic and adventurers...

It's starts off pretty dark though, so heads up, with Reizt nearly having his box of artwork thrown out by his sister and being beaten by his father, but there's also going to school, Reizt fighting back against school bullies and gradually learning how to fight... Saving entire schools from evil doers, coming to terms with being the chosen one, learning how to become an artist, as well as plenty of romance and girls crushing on our young protagonist! Wooo!

Does this sound exciting? Click the link below!

My story is what happens if 'Solo Levelling' and 'Stardust' made a novel baby and mixed in some Egyptian mythology

I submitted this for the AF tourney but plan to post regular chapters on a weekly basis and keep the momentum going. Thank you in advance if anyone takes a chance on reading my novel!

I hope you'll give it a try. Thank you

"A Taste of Mortality" is a dark fantasy novel about the Fae. But it's not romance or a light read. It has horror elements and actually many triggers.

There are two main characters: Tiyan Markon, who is thrown into a cruel reality; a hero, but reluctant one, who is not brave in the common sense of this word. He is an average young man, who will do everything for his family. Even go into the den of a lion - the Fae realm - though his future seems bleak and final.

The second main character is the fey king, Lorian Ain'Dal. He is ruthless, dark and cruel - and he does things that are usually a taboo. It's not that obvious in my currently posted chapters, but the novel will get darker as it goes. He has a goal - which costs him a lot of pain, of which no one knows, even his lovers. He is a complex character, fierce inside, but cold and shadowed outside.

The novel is poetic! I write with metaphors, some parts more, some parts less, but ATOM is like a poem about darkness, cruel woods, eternal winter and forbidden magic.

And it goes back to Fairy roots, when they were cruel, scary, unpredictable... a fairytale creatures, told about by the furnace fire, to teach children to behave and do not risk in the deep night. The fairies in my novel will grasp you heart with a pliers made of midnight and swallow of your hope.

Some arts I have of my characters!

And some graphic facts!
