I started adding music to my comics, and I know how to upload them VIA Tapastic, but how in the world do you add music in L-Webtoons? I hear music on there but, I'm not seeing any way to upload it.

This is just a hunch, but I'm thinking maybe only their featured creators have that option?
I don't think I've seen music in the "discover" section...

The pages with music I think it's coded within the page. In other words, you might have ask LINE to code page to play music.

Please, please do not do this. Nothing makes me quit a webcomic before reading it EXCEPT for this. If you really feel passionately about having music with your comic, at least make sure to give your potential readers the option to stop playback, or ideally, DON'T have it set to autoplay.

Nothing bothers me more than going to read a comic while listening to my own music for whatever mood I'm in, and having something else play back over that. ESPECIALLY because I'm a tab abuser and sometimes don't know what tab the sound is coming from, and even worse if our tastes don't mesh and suddenly I'm forced to listen to something I can't stand!

I have to agree with @katverwho about how annoying music playing in the background can be haha. I have trouble with my speaker, and even at volume 1, music coming out from my computer can still be heard across my entire house. And so it was really annoying for me to read a comic on Webtoon with NO WAY TO TURN OFF THE GOD DARN MUSIC except muting my entire system. This is part of the reason why I stopped reading Siren's Lament at Webtoon despite how nice the music and art can be. I much rather prefer how Tap handle the music part where you can press to play or don't and leave it be.

Edit: I also have trouble focusing when there is music playing in the background. Often I can't even sketch when listening to music. I usually leave the music part for when I lineart or color.

I make my own music and I consider it part of my art and comic but I it's useful to know people feel so strongly about it. I'll be sure to disable autoplay (if that settings available) when I reach the point where I use music.

I think one of the other reasons I'm not a fan of music set to comics (or any reading) is because you can't force the pace at which people read. Unless the music you're making is subtle and/or ambient (more like what you might find in a VN), then the peaks & crescendos may actually negatively effect the pacing for that particular reader.

Yeah, that is definitely going to be super tricky. The only way I found around that was to plan a montage of scenes where I would imagine the music plays in the background if it were animated. I would keep that section as separate chapter. But I'm still trying to write it in a way that advances the story with minimal text since it would distract from the music, and vice versa.

Tricky, tricky business.

But yeah, these are legit complaints, and perhaps this medium isn't quite suited to music. But I'd like to at least try my hand at pushing the boundaries of the medium and what its capable of. Maybe I'll figure out something that will work. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

The only comic I know that pulled it off well....is Homestuck <3

Actually you can turn off the background music on line webtoon, all you need to do is press the middle of the episode you read (if you use the mobile app) and there'll be "on" button on the right top. If you press that "on" the music will automatically turned off.
sorry for my messy english :"))

I do add music to my comics, but I always set it to manual so that readers have the option of turning it on or off. My own music is annoying sometimes, but it's good to set the mood if you WANT to hear it.
All about preferences.

That makes a lot of sense now that you mention it. It just had me really confused is all. Still debating whether I will add music or not, but I did want to know how just in case I decided to go ahead and add some.

Each of my characters have their own themes, as does the world they're in. But I DO hate it when I open and comic and some weird a** music starts beating my ear drums with a mallet. I love the option to disable auto play and I try to be sure to warn readers first if there is music involved, and they have the option to listen to it if they want.
(which is why I usually just insert a link to the music for the page)
But this was a good way to see if readers liked music or not with their comics - I'm on the fence about it myself.

@melindasavenia I rarely read thing on mobile because everything feels so tiny but I cannot find a way to turn off the music using computer. Any tip?

@Valyson I sometimes like music in comic too if it sets the mood just right, but normally I don't like listening to music when I read something because it tend to distract me more than setting the mood for me TT v TT

Ooh i just find out how to turned it off in computer! If you click the middle part of the episode, the black bar on the top will show you a very small stop-pause-play buttons. If you want to turn off the bg music you just have to click the pause or stop button ^^
I hope you understand what i mean, because i'm not a native speaker :")

i used it only once with the first episode of my comic, with autoplay off of course
i received a comment or 2 about the music and how it was good for the mood
and i was curious to know if most people like the music thing too or not, i personally don't play it cuz i'm always listening to my playlists
and from the look of it, it seems to be unlikable...

Hello! Hobbyist manga artist here! How do you add music to episodes? Please and thank you.

Assuming you're talking about uploading music to Tapas, scroll down to the Episode Info of the episode you want to put music in and click on "Add Music from Soundcloud".

If you're talking about putting music to Canvas comics on Webtoons, you can't, as it's a feature for Webtoon Originals only.

On the top right corner there's a button where you can click to mute the music. Some people such as myself dislike the music while others find it pleasing. To satisfy everyone you can just add the music and all they have to do is click once and everyone's satisfied. It's just one click.
