In order for my comics to do better, I share the links to Twitter just like anyone else. But later in the day, I'll share the link to four different comic related subreddit's, allowing my series' to get hundreds of views by the end of the day. Luckily they get upvoted so I'm not just sharing poorly concocted crap that nobody cares about.

Despite not being as successful as 'Personal Bubble', an episode of 'My life portrayed by Anime' can get nearly 600 views in just a couple of days thanks to it's recent increase in quality.

So do these practices seem shady to any of you?

No? That's just reasonable self-advertising practices.

You'd only be shady if you were DMing or dropping links on people's profile walls without any higher level of interaction.

Doesn't seem shady to me. You just know where to promote yourself and there's nothing bad about that.

Not at all xD It'd be one thing to like spam the same place with 50 posts about a single update, but advertising in several different places is a good thing to do/standard (I think)

lol yeah, share those sub reddits so we can all join you XD

***Just to clarify my "yeah" was in reply to bobbyjoe, not your question. XD

That's awesome
Self advertising is key in this business :o

As long as you are not breaking the any rules of these sub-reddits then you are alright.

Yeah. Like, if you're promoting in places where they encourage promoting, I don't see why it'd be a bad thing.
It's just the way of self-promoting. You advertise your talents given the opportunities that arise.

Personal Social Media? You can promote your work there XD
Forums and Sites that want Self-Promotion? That's your ticket.

I think it's all about how you do it. Like previously said, it's more annoying if someone slips into your DMs, a total stranger, and self-promotes their comic. You don't know them, don't know who they are, didn't even get a simple "hello" -- they just randomly decided to PM you with this. That's where you can go wrong.

Long as you're not doing that, you're chill. :sunglasses:

I post to the following subreddits: /r/AnimeSketch, /r/comics, /r/webcomics, and the most effective of them all.... /r/funny.

I don't believe that your actions make you a bad person. I believe that your actions make you a smart person. Finding ways to get views can be just as much work as making a web comic sometimes. If you continue to visit places that get you more views, this might help decrease the time that it takes to get views.

For your series, /r/AnimeSketch, /r/comics, /r/funny, /r/webcomics.
