So I'm true blue, through and through. I love a good shrimp on the barby (not really, don't know why Australian's are known for saying that). I've lived here all my life, haven't travelled overseas - and love this country.

My question to the forum is:
Are you an Australian cartoonist? and how have you found the comic culture in Australia?

I have lived in Australia for 3 years and I suddenly found this question...
I'll leave Australia very soon...sad..

Im Australian, though I dont really have anything to do with the comic culture here enough to comment on that front. The fact that I havent probably says something about it though? I cant say Ive witnessed much of a place for the genre of things I fit into. Then again given that the majority of Australians (or half as the current case may be) arent so supportive of lgbt+ issues or arts or culture or... well its unsurprising. Do I seem salty i seem salty. Didnt even get a democracy fucking sausage (no not that kind of sausage) incoherent babbling

Haha, yes I think this election has all made us salty, especially since we don't have an official result yet!

yup im aussie! not much comic culture around here though ://

Well, according to Peter Dutton I'm an illiterate refugee. Do I still count?

I'm not dual citizen. I'm an Australian citizen and all but, you know, Peter Dutton and shit.

im a dual O^O I'm sorry if I offended and as my grandpa tells me yes he is.

I am Australian born and raised but I lived in Darwin. No one really knew or cared about cartoons. I live in Canada now and feel like there's actually a culture (and con) here for it.

To be fair, nobody in Darwin is sober enough to know or care about anything.

What's this Peter Dutton thing? I haven't caught up on Aussie news in a long time. Though it doesn't surprise me that Pollies are still heavily anti immigration if that's what it is.

Ah yes... Peter Dutton, our illustrious right wing redneck minister for immigration.
He warned that if people did the humane thing and provided refuge to people escaping conflict zones, illiterate refugees would be taking jobs away from Australians.
Never mind that if an illiterate refugee with no education and no connections in a new country with a completely different culture manages to steal your job, maybe you were just plain incompetent.
Needless to say that after the media bashing he got, he now wishes he had kept his mouth shut.

Hmmm, I'm not sure why you think the majority (or half) of Australians aren't supportive of LGBT issues. Surely we're as open as all other modern, western countries. But anyway, I too don't have any contact with any kind of comic culture here. Is there one? Other than just people who like reading international content?

I checked out your work, btw, and wow, amazing stuff. You have some incredible skills and a really distinctive style.

Wow, are you in the wrong century or what?
So somehow you have missed the fact that we have the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, world class art museums and very vibrant art communities in Sydney and Melbourne.
Maybe you have had some personal experience to back up your claim, but I think you're painting a whole country with a very broad brush.

Yep, can't deny that either, not to mention a world-class grassroots and mainstream music scene. Then there's that whole sports culture, if you're into that kind of thing.

errrrr 'not so supportive' 'but we have a mardi gras once a year' lol duuuuude what are you doing XD I'm not going to get into a debate about the crummy day to day things lagging behind hugely, on a webcomic forum. But I was very specifically speaking in light of the present election. I could have complained about more things but the three I mentioned were immediately relevant (am gay, make gay comics, arts - culture - comics - 50% of the country - Liberals sucking the life out of equality - arts - culture, the parliament is all but hung)
