Y'all are starting to get somewhat positive here in my echo chamber smh stop that or I'll curse your families with only the mildest inconveniences in my arsenal

My guy I get what your trying to say but man there's somethings that just aren't true. Its easy to be a jerk on the forums but I don't think most people are jerks or overly negative. This platform aint easy to accumulate subscribers or even loyal readers so I think its good to help out people who are genuinely seeking it. And besides nice critique/ advice is much better than just ranting about their lack of insight or knowledge.

I personally though stay away from forums asking for feedback on plot and stuff and also forums that are basically sub for sub. Its just a waste of time and your'e better off first learning outside of the forums how to become a good writer/ artist then coming into the forums to ask for specifics.

Im in awe at this. Like major props to you, my budget to commission my artist(s) for my book cover was not that high. XD

nah never consumed one and don't intent to

but the handle snapped off the thing :[

I mean, I see what you're saying with making sure newbies don't feel bad, but we have been begging mods to shut these threads down for like the entire time I've been here. And, when mods started shutting them down, they kept popping back up. The aggressive over promotion is actually a very big problem that prevents people from staying on the forum, and we complain about it, so that way changes can be made that will hopefully be lasting.

Like when you're not a moderator and you don't have any power over what's happening around you, and you see a problem...complaining is how that gets attention so it gets addressed.

Only...peeps have complained for years now. Nothing has changed. Probably won't ever, because it would involve serious coding changes to the platform this forum uses. In my mind it's a useless endeavor.

You completely misunderstood me. I meant what I said because to be honest I am GLAD these complaint/vent posts exist! How else could I be made more aware of certain things? I am a pretty oblivious person and things like these can be beneficial for slow people like me lol. It's like the post where people complained about what turns them completely off from a comic or a novel. I really got a lot of good info from that page as far as what people like or dont, or what to avoid doing. Just like here I got to see what I am glad I got away from doing!

Seeing any Unpaid/Revshare posts boils my blood.

People.

PAY.

YOUR.

ARTISTS.

I wish I knew how to improve my interactions with the forums. While I use it for promotion I also log on everyday looking for non-promotional threads to participate in. I somehow missed this thread for 4 whole days. I'd like to see more real conversations fight their way through the noise of self promotion.

I really don't have a problem with most of posts...

Except those that want the collaborator do almost 90% of the work, be act and have quality like a professional... sometimes I dislike when some people don't clarify the "PAID" on title, but then you'll have people shoving their price list more than a person that is going to pay you, the one they seem to be looking for. (Wonder if it's too hard for that people to put "Writer/Artist for Hire" or "Hiring a writer/artist")

The RP ones are not my thing, but it's more about not understanding them than disliking (And tbh if I were to participate I feel like a meteoryte landing on the middle of the characters for some reason ahahah I feel like I'm interrupting)

referring specifically to the collabs thing i think it's because this

is seen as breaking forum rules. while this

is just rarely ever done

Just based on the kinds of posts that pass through the category makes me wonder if they've even bothered to read the collab guidelines but I guess they kinda speak for themselves :disappointed_relieved:

But people do clarify in their post when they are going to pay someone or if they're looking to commission.... So it kinda doesn't make sense to me, because they put the "PAID" on the title and then I've seen cases where people specify they want to hire someone for a novel cover, character design or work as colorist/ink, etc.

So it is kinda weird for me to see cases where no one specify anything, you leave your portfolio and then you receive a DM of "Ok so I like your stuff, this are my prices and stuff if you want to work with me" and you're like "b-but this person didn't make a post so others would be hired?" or maybe my english is limited and that's it idk
