Any shonen manga out there?

Hey! I was searching in tapastic some comics and manga and I didnt see much of shonen manga, that real shonen, with the feelings of naruto and one piece, etc. In case you make a shonen manga show it to me here! I will be more than happy to check it out, and give it a nice little comment.

Check out some of those authors' webcomics. he's the writer and work with different artists. Although you may have already heard of Acolyte Hunters or Retribution

Hello! I know a comic you might like that is 100% traditional other than the text.
Perhaps try reading Okamirai by Matsuyama Takeshi
It's a shonen like comic/manga with a style similar to One Piece.

Even though this isn't a Tapastic comic I'd also like to recommend Apple Black by Odunze Oguguo or by his pen name WHYTMANGA. The artwork kinda has a Bleach feel to it in some parts but in my opinion it's way better than Bleach and I actually enjoy the story as well. You can read the first four chapters for free and the first volume is available on Amazon.

Personally I'm not a fan of One Piece or Bleach but these two guys are really talented and their both really nice.

Shonen is just Japanese for "boy", vs. Shoujo which is Japanese for "girl" (and bishoujo for women, etc.) Shonen is meant for young boys, shoujo is meant for young girls, etc etc. (so the former focuses more on action, adventure, fantasy, most of the time with a male protagonist, etc. and the latter focuses more on romance, friendship, growing up, most of the time with a female protagnist, yadda yadda).

The comics we know today as "shonen" are just the ones that have defined the genre from being so popular (/cough naruto, bleach, one piece /cough). There are plenty of comics out there that would technically fall under shonen/shoujo/bishoujo, as long as you aren't too selective about what it's SPECIFICALLY like (like Naruto). Those are just the comics that ended up navigating the modern-day shonen ship

So any shonen out there? Yes. Any cookie-cutter Naruto comics out there? Not as many, but I'm sure you'll find some if you dig deep enough

My comic Beasts of Ushin is my attempt at shonen. I may not use as many speedlines as I should (working on that) or use japanese characters for the sfx, but it will have many of the same tropes needed to brand itself as a shonen manga. Although, this is a digitally drawn comic, so it may not be as "authentic" as one may prefer from their shonen.

Does it have to be a comic about fighting for you to qualify it?

I only ask because My sister and I have been working on a story together and though we approach it as shoujo, we actually imagine it as a shonen manga pretending to be a shoujo. But it's about cooking mostly, who can make the cutest lunch, friendship, and I do use a lot of shoujo bubbles (which really was a foreign concept to me because I like drawing punching more than anything else) but that may not be your taste. If you do wanna check it out here it is.

Hey! Right, I agree with you, and I've found some already, but I believe i'm still a newbie on webcomics so I was thinking that some of you that are into webcomics longer than me could know something like that, and you guys did, some guys commented some really cool shonen manga before you, and that's what I was expecting for.
Evem though you didnt mentioned any manga I appretiate the comment, its good to know that I´m not the only one into it here on tapastic!

Hey! Thanks! I dont think that a digital drawn shonen manga is less "authentic" than a traditional one, but I understand where you´re comming from, people tend to think that something isnt done with the traditional process is not authentic, I say bulshit, Many artists make digital comic|manga and are really sucessful,so that means that they are authentic, right?
And as for the japanese sound effects I dont think you should use it, except if you're making a manga for japanese people, so the english sound effects are more than fine for me!

Hey! No, it doesnt have to be about fighting, for me to qualify it, it could be psychological, adventure, even sports, like captain tsubasa, haiykyuu!, etc.
But yeah, you're manga isnt really my taste, but you have great drawing skills as for what i've seen, so keep up with the manga, and good luck for you two!

Haha I kinda figured, but I thought I'd throw it out there.(Since we've intentionally been trying to be a hybrid of a shoujoy and shoneny story) I have been working on another story with my brother that honestly sounds like it would be your taste probably but I have yet to upload it because my brother wants to edit the writing.

Ah but what about the other stories, those are good right? Those were some of my faves (I particularly like Aegis Omega) and I was hopping someone would like them. (I'm actually a huge fave of the more shonen feel manga as well. I really have big issues with the very girly romance stories because they take too long and it's like do I even like these people anymore?)
Oh there's a sports one I read too it's wait a second False 9 and then there are thse two which aren't shonen but they are good so you might like them. livNPC and Heart of Keol

Interesting concept, Shonen.

I was completely unfamiliar with the concept until my friend, Marti Wong and I started working on Hero Fighter Origins, which honeslty was a challenge to write. But in the end, was a big learning experience. Anyhow, HFO is somewhat of a shonen or at least this chapter is, which we're yet to complete. Regardless, it's over 200 pages long and it's read from right to left. Hope you enjoy it.
