It's only been a week, but I still just wish it had a slightly bigger crowd at least

It's only been a week, relax, some people are on this for years before they hit 1k, link your comic on your posts (like this one) that sounds like a good idea. Read this.

HI, I'm also new here and I know how it feels to not have the readership you wish for, BUT, let's not forget it's all a process and it's important to be patient and persistent, if you keep up with your work eventually the readership will come along.

I think it would help if you put a link to your comic in your forum profile, if you're active here people will notice your posts and might be curious to check out your comic.

Recipe for webcomic recognition:
Add several cups of good story.
Add equal parts well suited art style and composition.
Make sure your mix is legible.
Turn up the pacing just right.
Add just a pinch of social media presence.
Sprinkle a dash of advertising when appropriate.
...
And bake for 3-4+ years.

Even if you know the recipe, it's a hard one to swallow sometimes. D:

Unfortunately a big part of being recognised on here is due to luck - if Tapas staff notices you then soon everyone else will. That being said, there are other things you can do to get a few more subs. You could make guest comics or collabs with other creators; be active in comments of comics or on the forums here so that people know your face and possibly check out your profile; be active on a social media like Twitter and follow and interact with other comic artists (small ones are more likely to give you the time of day); updating regularly will probably help.

At the end of the day it wouldn't be unlikely that you still have a small following since there are so many comics on here, so what I'd suggest is to put the numbers behind you and just draw for yourself. Appreciate the subs you have, talk to them, encourage interaction - maybe the Tap gods will smile on you someday.

Noone mentioned project wonderful..? Try project wonderful! https://www.projectwonderful.com/6

It works most effectively if you play around and find the ad spots that work the best for your comic (it will vary depending on what kind of audience you are trying to reach out to) and use actual money for it, but if you don't have any money to invest, you can go here2 to read PotooGryphon's advice on how to advertise on there for free!

Oh, and mirrors! Have your webcomic on multiple sites, sometimes a comic works better on one site than the other. Try webtoon and smackjeeves!

With that said, it's the usual: Keep creating content, keep working to improve, respond to comments if/when you get them. Things like this take time but if you've got a big dream it's all worth it smile

I'm still working on getting mine more noticed as well. I feel ya! If you haven't linked it to a facebook maybe try that
