ahh, short stories are one of my main things, it's long-form projects that stress me out more

fair, but writing competitions aren't randomized luck the same way casinos are. they are opinion based, but not luck based, which makes a difference

Yeah, but how do you even define "for all ages"? Is it made for kids? Is it for young adults? Either way, I'll just write whatever fits their guidelines in their TOS, after all we are uploading it to Tapas but other creators will probably not understand it as them trying to keep their event within their guidelines. In fact, the wording seems to suggest that it should be made for kids from 0-12+ which is in the best way possible for all ages. It's stupid wording, basically.

Mostly, I'm just pretty sure I lack the technical art skills that'll probably be judged. And I've not drawn a comic in ages, lol.

Also I should probably focus on my novels.

well as long as you let your readers know what you're doing, it's not like you have to drop the novels for good. It could always be fun to try something new right? Your art looked pretty good to me in the thing where you were drawing people's characters for them

One of my novels is on hold because of contest reasons and my readers are pretty cool about me taking breaks, so it's really just up to me coming up with an idea. Thank you, I mostly do messy sketches like those unless it's for covers or illustrations. I'd also have to settle on an art style to use, mostly on which would be faster, lol.

no, I declined the contract, so I'm not going on hiatus at all. The perks definitely looked pretty cool tho.

Some rule clarifications from Discord:

• Any genre is allowed
• "All Ages" means no nudity or excessive violence (or anything else that would prompt a mature tag I presume)
• You are allowed to advertise on social media, post sneak peeks, even stream yourself drawing the comic, just don't post the full comic anywhere except Tapas until the contest period is over

I’m thinking for mine, Elsie and the gang would find a mysterious ethereal train and they get trapped where the wee folk are and Ernest learns to have courage even in the face of fear. He’s deathly afraid of the fae.

I think I might give it a try, I don't have a big plan or something fleshed out but at least it would be a good excuse to make something original.
Besides, I could save it for later and print it for a local convention or similar. I think if you arrange all 75 panels into 5 panels per page, it could be a 15 page long fanzine.

Besides I don't want to take even more time and resources away from working on Trespasser's 3rd Chapter (life hasn't been kind to me the past month).

Plus I kinda want to start working on my own short story set in the world of Trespasser, hopefully getting it done before may 27th.

So I'll be passing on this one.

I am! I already had an idea and it was pretty easy to just add a train in since it fits the setting. I had a different idea originally but It was ten panels too long lol. The one I’m doing is in the same universe though. I’m excited to start. It’s a lot of heavy lifting with the BGs for me but that’s my favorite part so I’m good.

I worry some people won’t enter simply because they can’t draw any sort of train though lol. I think csp asset store may have some though, so I’m really looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with! I hope a lot of people participate.
