Anyone else get bullied by their apple using friends for having an android?

I don't know if this happens for a lot of people. I am one of the few people in my school who uses an android phone while everyone else uses an apple. I dont really mind except for the fact that I don't have game pigeon and can't rename group chats. Though my friends are great, sometimes they really get on my case about how I should get an apple, which I can't cause I dont have the money for it. I guess I'm just kinda venting now. But i really wanna know if this happens with you all and what you guys do about it.
No hate against the apple community though.

Tell your friends they can get you an iphone then "I don't have money for that" is exactly what you should tell them. Dunno about US, but here an iPhone costs like 2 average salaries. Which is, you know, hilarious and absolutely isn't worth it.

I had experience with both kind of cellphones, and personally i prefer apple because of the tools i use to work, but that doesn't mean i would pick on someone for their phone of choice.

I think apple is more popular in school because it has access to more apps and games.

That being said, i am not the kind who buys everytime a new iphone comes......and avoid updating it as much as possible to avoid planned obsolesence.

Apple price is basically the brand, I use android since my first smartphone and I'm 100% okay. If you using an android bothers that much your "friends" maybe they can pay you an iphone

I know we are talking about phones here but apple is the company that made the dumbest wireless mouse in the world!

Whenever I'm working and it needs to recharge I have to stop whatever I'm doing and lay it down for it to recharge. If they had put the connection in front of the mouse like this:

Then I could just plug it in and continue using it as a regular mouse, but no, they had the great idea to put the connection under the mouse!

Seriously, kids in school will bully you for literally anything because they're insecure and desperate to establish an identity and have it validated by their peers. Rise above it. Your phone is better because it's not an overpriced piece of crap from a stagnant company that hasn't innovated in 20 years that's pushing a campaign of censorship that's toxic to artists.

Honestly speaking... in my whole life I've only used ONE single brand of phone... and that's samsung , so I can't really speak about iOS. Still, all this time android never really gave me any problems, so... just ignore them: android works just fine, it's not like you're using a faulty system. Both systems are pretty much valid, even though Apple is always praised mainly because it's... Apple (Nothing against them though)

I do agree that the hype for smartphones is stupid and the pressure to keep updating is wasteful. I bought a brand new iPhone5 years ago for $200 because it was seen as "obsolete". It still runs fine, I can use the internet, call, text, and use social media apps. The camera is not amazing but it is fine for what it is. I have zero desire to upgrade until it breaks on me. I wish more people would view phones like that. They are built to last long if you treat them with care.

THIS. I just traded in my old phone for a new one (a Samsung), and my old phone was a slide phone with a keyboard that I've had since the early-to-mid 2000s. No internet. Camera was a joke. The guy doing the trade in was actually astonished, he hadn't seen one in years, and couldn't believe I hadn't upgraded in all that time.

I didn't need to. The only reason I was trading in my phone was that I could no longer make actual CALLS on it. Defeating its use as a PHONE. And I won't be trading this new phone in until it's unusable either. I drive a 16 year old car, and have clothing I've had for 20 years -- I use things until they die.

Use the phone that works for you. Ignore elitists who only care about branding. You're being smart about money, you're not being wasteful, and you're not falling for the hype so you can be like everyone else.

Ignore them, just like @Kelheor said, they can buy it for you , apple products are expensive (i'm talking about newer ones), besides Apple is company that would create problem, then sell a solution which IS good for their profit, but not for our pockets, not to mention that there are plenty of good android phones for lower price (there are also expensive android phones, like Samsung z flip, google says it's around 1,400 $ )

Never got bullied for the phone I had, 'cos thankfully back when I was in high school smartphones weren't even a thing and the "coolest" phone you could have was a Nokia 3310... and only because you could play Snake on it XD I survived the entirety of high school + the great majority of University with a Samsung phone that still had buttons on it.

THAT SAID, there WAS a lot of elitism in my University regarding Apple products: according to both my teachers and my peers, it was "either Apple + Adobe or go home". Some teachers would go even as far as saying that they wouldn't accept graphic design assignments made with Corel Draw (which... isn't cheap either, btw).
As someone with a Windows pc who had zero intention to buy a Mac and couldn't afford to spend 2000+ euros on the Adobe Creative Suite (students discounts didn't exist back then) I often felt like an outcast. It wasn't direct bullying, but like... the constant boasting of my peers + the attitude of my teachers were annoying as hell. Anyway, I just ignored them and kept my beloved Windows <3

I do have an iPhone now, and while I love it and I don't think I would exchange it with an Android phone, I STILL think that Apple products are overpriced as hell. Heck, some of them -Macbooks, anyone?- are overpriced AND overrated. You can get a WAY more powerful Windows pc for half the price of any Mac, really. As for iPhones? I like the UI better and the fact that I don't have to install an antivirus, but as for everything else, Android and iPhone are literally the same freaking thing. Heck, depending on what you want to do with your phone, an Android might be even better (I think you can install apps manually on there and don't have to rely necessarily on their default app store?)

This was a conversation that came up because they were discussing getting the new iPhone (13? They had 12s I think?)

Them: Yeah, like, what do you have? Probably an 11?

This stems a lot more from them simply having money they can easily put toward new products at a moment's notice. Out of nowhere, they'll suddenly have the brand new iPad, or the brand new Macbook Pro. Most of them have always lived financially comfortable lives, and others will be surprised I can make my phone last that long. I've noticed a lot of phones tend to be exhausted after 2 years (often needing a battery replacement, which is so expensive for iPhones it often warrants just buying a different phone as opposed to trying to keep the old one running), but I don't use my phone too much, so I've had it for about 4 years.

That's my anecdotal experience. I have heard of those who can be really pretentious about Apple vs any other brand, though. I've actually had more experience from Android and Windows users insisting I'm essentially a sheep who just likes shiny things because Apple and I can't think for myself and don't know tech. These kinds of people plague every single side of literally anything.

another trick to make it last more is to avoid updating it until it's absolutely neccesary.....one friend once fixed his smartphone by downgrading it to a previous version because there is a point updates are not compatible with the cellphone.

Claim to be saving the planet by reusing old tech and not being a consumer whore like your Apple cultists.
I mean ask them how long does their Apple phone battery last? A good old dumb phone (like the E72 I'm shilling) can last for 2 weeks before needing a charge...can theirs? Mwahhhahaaahaaaaa!

That´s the reason why I only had a few friends when I was going to school.
We didn´t have smartphones or the internet but there were other status things.
It disgusted me how they were following every trend and tried to be like everyone else.

Nope. Coz I'm too damn old for that crap...if anyone wants to rag on me about an iPhone, then they can buy me one and pay my bill for it.

Until then, I will continue to get what I can afford...same words go for folks rah-rah'n for Samsung as well. Both these companies want to be the standard but have been churning out sub-standard products for the last 6 years.
