Anyone know anything about Becomics?

Never heard of them before but they just followed me on Twitter. I went to their site and I do see a few comics I recognize from Tapastic over there, so I was just wondering if anyone has anything to say about them? Looks pretty small so far, but is it serving as a decent mirror for anyone on there?

The first thing I noticed when browsing comics over there is that they have an implementation of the "infinite canvas" concept, where you can pan/zoom/transition between your individual panels to give it a very dynamic layout, almost like it's semi-animated, kind of like that motion book thing they got going at Deviant art.

Hmm. Now that I think about it, it actually seems pretty attractive as a mirror (they are very small though). Maybe I'll try them out when I have time to take advantage of their tools

I think it looks really cool. I love some of those scrolling effects. Really adds that extra dimension to the storytelling and pacing. Might have a look at uploading, although it probably depends on how quick and easy it is.

They emailed me when they were in beta and I ended up signing up. I haven't uploaded much there, but the animation is pretty cool and easy to use!

I also was emailed to try the beta and did.
It's cool but pretty time consuming getting it set up, so I only have the first chapter uploaded (could've been worse though, considering all that it does, it's pretty darn simple).

I like the effects, but I think it's pretty much up in the air on how Becomics will compete with Tapastic and the rest. I really don't know the masses opinion on comics with this sort of semi-animated format.

They also emailed me for the Beta of the site. However, I didn't accept to join. I'm trying to limit the mirror sites I post on because I want to be present for readers. It's harder to be interactive with reader in several different location.

Their email also didn't appeal to me. It read like a mass-email and they even mention in the email that it's not a mass-email. [A likely story lol] However, to their credit, they responded back to my email when I wrote them back asking how did they find my series, why they think it'd be a good match for the beta of their site, and how can their platform better enhance the reading experience of my series. So props for that. X3

I don't see it currently matching Tapastic or Webtoons, so I'm currently not feeling a pull to post there. Comic Chameleon is an interesting platform though.

I checked out Becomics, never heard of it before, but I don't really like the dynamic stuff. Maybe I am old fashion I just like the traditional scroll or seeing the whole page at once.

Ahaha don't worry, you're not alone. :'D I've never gotten any sort of e-mail like that and have no idea how people even get to the point where they're being reached out to...

Anyway, thanks for the info guys! Might be something I start posting to but I don't think I'm in a major rush based on what I heard here. Looks like there's a couple other sites I should take a peak at too though

Looks cool! I like the animation aspect of it but I don't think it works well with all comics. For example my comic BH would look terrible like that, but my other comic YHIMC could work in that aspect. I'll probably give it a try see how it all works over there but Tapastic is still my main slice.

my school wifi blocks it as a "gambling site" which is ?? i don't quite understand what would set that off, but anyway i can't use it easily so i don't plan on mirroring there. if i hear good things i might go out of my way to try it tho

Yeah, I got the mass email as well - and decided not to. It might be a nice site, but doing the infinite canvas thing on Grassblades would take FOREVER, and I just don't have the time. I really don't.

I'm also in the corner of "don't stretch too thin". I'm considering starting to upload on Line next year, but that's it. I've already got my own website, Tapastic, a mirror on Tumblr and Patreon to keep track of - adding Becomics on top of that would be a time-drain.

I might have been more positively inclined towards them if that mass email hadn't arrived in the same week as two or three other "hi please sign up for our comics-website and do all of the work of motion-comics-conversion yourself right now!" and one that offered to translate my comic into portugese.

Honestly after being there for a while, I haven't had a lot of time to upload and they emailed me mentioning lack of uploads and...this is starting to feel like too much extra work that I'm not sure is worth it. I just wanted to try it out. XD

In general, they've been very nice, emailing me to give me advice on the uploading system and making sure I didn't sure have any issue when I made a comment about slowness (though it was a misunderstanding, I was talking about ME being a slow uploader XD), I can tell they want to reach out to their creators and try to get them to be as enthusiastic as they are, but I can't drop everything I'm doing for a site in it's infancy that I'm not even sure about, let me upload to this thing in my own time. It's not like I can just slap pages up, there's 'programming' involved if I want it to look good.

I'll try to stick it out for a little longer, but I have a feeling this isn't going to work out, and I'm not sure my comic is that much more amazing in this format. A comic that's more built with this system in mind might do better. Trying to read super long chapters this way is actually kind of exhausting.

I try to focus the mirror sites where I post per page.
But for chapter updates I'm willing to try a bunch. It's not that much work since I finish a new one every 3 month.

The panel per panel reading might take extra time. I wonder if readers there expect that option.
Anyway we'll see if I get few more readers with that.
