You have to remember a lot of these comics are traced over 3d models, specially in Korea. That is why every guy has the same body type with the long neck and tiny head. And Asians (specially Korea and China) hate ugly people unless they are suppose to be over the top ugly (and usually a badguy or comic relief). They want their characters to always look good. This is why the overdone outfits with way more lace that is needed, and only certain character faces. The bland 100 yard stare into nothingness of most male characters. Once you narrow this down, there are only so many ways to draw a character. Put 30 Korean drawn male protagonist is a line up and zero chance you could tell them apart. Very bland.

Cookie cutter character designs are common across the globe, just look at the leading couples in Bollywood films and Western Holiday romcoms. People like what's familiar to them, like comfort food. It's safe, secure, with a high chance they'll enjoy it.

You should take a look at the action section of tapas. You will find the same black haired swordsman with a ponytail in traditional garb across multiple titles.

Edit with a couple of examples:

His name is Protag-kun, and he is the best player in an mmo about romancing the duchess of Fantasylandia after being Isekaied from his life as a normal highschool student in Japan.

No to mention the last one is a middle aged father, the others are all young pretty boys.

And he is the coolest of the five.

I think part of it is that black hair is super common in South Korea. Paired up with the "Justin Bieber" bob is really popular with kpop idols.

I guess a similarity is how male leaders in the 90s sort of looked like this

And I wish I could find that meme of characters that look like Tom Holland, with the babyboy face, large nose, and ears that stick out.

I have like half face blindness and I honestly can't tell most brown hair white male leads apart.

And now... found the archetypal Tapas Stacy lol
