Are tags important?

I was just wondering if adding tags to your comics could be a huge help or not, thanks

Once Tapastic properly implements them into the website they theoretically should be. Right now because they are not yet properly integrated they are not a very big help if any at all.

As it's been said already, here on Tapastic, not quite yet. The tagging system has unfortunately not been integrated much (as of yet) so there isn't a huge difference in whether you tag or not at the moment.

In the future though, or for other websites like Tumblr, Wordpress builds, etc.? Then yes, tag that shit. That's SEO optimization right there, and whether or not you tag your work with "webcomic" could mean the difference between an entire Twitter comic community discovering your comic and, well, not discovering it lol

Chiming in to second the others - Tapastic's tagging system isn't fully functional right now (I use mine to tell jokes!), but on Tumblr and Twitter and all other places you're sharing/promoting that comic, tag that stuff a LOT.

Keep in mind, though, that on Tumblr only the first five tags will be indexed globally, so make sure to prioritize the most important tags.

As other's have stated above, the tags here at Tap are not working correctly at the moment. But outside of Tapastic, tags are an extremely essential SEO tool and should be used always. Having proper tags can mean the difference between readers being able to find your comic and your comic being lost within the internet abyss!

Tags are supposed to be important, and very very useful, but they don't seem to be here. As others have pointed out, the tag system isn't working properly. So, yes, they are very important, Tapastic just has to get them working. lol

Just add them anyway when they do implement them. No point in having to go back/ignored by search engines.

Yeah, this is actually what I do. I just add tags here anyway so when Tap finally does implement them, I don't have to go back and manually do it on ALL the pages.

Never knew that was the case with tumblr, all those minutes spent filling in tags...

they work pretty well. I tested out a few of the tags on google to find my comic and it helped pop to the very top of the search. And this was without using "tapastic" or the title of my comic. I just used "urban fantasy" and "eddie stanton" (the lead character)
