Are you guys still using twitter. And if you are.....Why?

I should've been quit. I've been shadowbanned since I set up an account and I pretty much gave up on posting there.
I think I got addicted to doom-scrolling. I get notifications from people I don't follow about the horrible things that's happening in the world(mostly the US). I want to disengage, but it feels like I'd be choosing to bury my head in the sand.

Also there's a few Japanese artists I follow that only have Twitter. My guess is they don't have Twitter alternatives there or at least none that works outside of Japan.

When I decided to come back from my [art] hiatus in 2022 it seemed like Twitter was suppressing my art posts...it also felt like it got worse after the site got a new owner and it turned to X. I got TIRED of getting on there and spending enormous amounts of time blocking bots that were in my timeline or in every 3rd or 4th comment on a post; I got tired of super asinine posts and takes by people I didnt care to see in my timeline...most of all I got tired of of every time I blocked a bot or asshole I'd get a pop up message prompting me to PAY for a Twitter account to end the bots and spam ads...

As soon as a peer gave me a Bluesky code(in 2023), I jumped ship and never went back...I finally deleted my Twitter account in December last year- is Bluesky a perfect site? No, but I can control what I want to expose myself to- without being bombarded with bots and spammy ads...no algorithm to suppress my art posts. A lot of my art peers that I followed on Twitter are on Bluesky & I've actually found other artists to bally-hoo about their work as well...

I'm in a sense that with millionaires/billionaires and VCs controlling a lot of social media- yeah, it sucks...but I'm trying to navigate the whole thing and get my art out there; I don't need stuff working against me like algorithms, AI, and bots/spam. I'm not gonna defend them coz none of this is being done for my betterment...they're making coin, while I'm sitting here online with my pockets lookin like rabbit ears

except for the fact that the founding fathers were also terrible people in their own right and there's plenty of historical evidence to back that up much like the way that the nation itself was built on harm to many a people so to act like anyone past or present is spotless or blameless completely ignores actual history and sweeps under the rug the harm they've caused

i get that it's easy to do so if you're not informed or swayed of a certain opinion but it's also oblivious and ignorant to the truth even if it might be hard to swallow or accept as such

Honestly haven’t been using it much ever since it became X. Particularly because I don’t like Elon Musk, but also because I haven’t gotten a lot of engagement from the site.

I stopped using Twitter years ago because all of my peers stopped using Twitter. But it was a super useful platform for me for a while—I had an ok following (somewhere around 20k), I used to get a lot of work and job offers out of it, I did some if my most valuable networking there (I believe my first talks with one of my favorite publishers started there), it was really good for converting followers to Patreon subscribers. It all dried up for me because most of my peers moved away from it so I don’t know if it has any of the same value but idk I think if it were still that useful I’d probably still be using it unfortunately.

It sucks and I hate all social media but its part of the game. Sometimes you just gotta post and move on.

I’ve never used twitter… but then I’ve never used Instagram either. Been meaning to use Instagram since I started drawing again but never got around to it. Never had any interest in Twitter, and had even less interest in it when it came under new ownership and became X (which I refuse to call it).

Those social networks only make sense if you're a famous person, or else they'll be placebos for you... Some used to be great for beginners, but that policy is long gone nowadays...
