Dec 2018
11 days later

oooook just finally made mine... right down to the last minute... as usual xD (although tbf the December pic only got completed a few days ago so eh)

A few things that I'm the happiest with:

  • Just that I was able to actually have something to show for each month LOL Had to scrape the bottom of the barrel for the summer months, but honestly it's a good show. I haven't done this much drawing consistently since... 2012?
  • I managed to use lots of different mediums over the course of the year ^^ ballpoint pens and pencils, dip pen and ink, brush pens, markers, digital painting/cel shading, etc. I've been moving more and more into digital art this year, but I still love those traditional mediums too~
  • I was actually shocked that only 4 months (technically 5, but Jan was a panel from a comic project I dropped starting in February lol) had art related to my comic that I considered to be my best work of the month. I honestly don't remember having time to do my comic and all of these other nice illustrations but yet here they are lol

Did Mermaid Melody become super relevant again, cause I've been seeing a lot of fan art for it XD Not that there's anything wrong with Luchia and friends.

That's a good question! I've just been a big fan of it for years. If it is getting more popular I will not complain!!

Everything I drew this year was for my comic, but I took up two drawing challenges this year, in October and December. The sketches are all related to my comic, and many of them have stories accompanying them.

For 2019, I want to also draw other things if I'll have the time.

I tried out some different styles this year. In the drawing shown under February, I added soft shading effects in Photoshop and used some brushes to emulate the dramatic watercolor freeze-frames in anime.

The drawing shown under April was an April Fool's update. I would've joked that this was going to be the new look!

The drawing shown under September was a test drawing on my new computer. The lineart was vectored, but this was my first experiment coloring with Krita.

During October, I made a mix of traditional and digital sketches. The digital sketches helped me practice drawing line art in Krita when I wasn't used to it yet, and to try different coloring and inking techniques.

Did some more stuff during my break between Ch 2 and Ch 3 this past summer, but a lot of that went straight to my Patreon page. I Think I'm gonna start taking lengthy breaks between chapters not only to allow my body to rest a bit, but also so that I can work on diff stuff besides the comic.

just finished whipping this up

january was the one month i coudnt really find anything but then I remembered being really burnt out around that time

i will say compared to last year i really let myself use much bolder colors versus the muted tones of 2017 and i started to experiment a bit with trying to draw environments and backgrounds hoping to push even further in 2019

happy art growth everyone!

Idk why but when I switched to CSP in July I started disliking my colors a lot more ^^; not sure if it has something to do with how they appear in the program, or if something was just up with me and the timing was convenient  This month in December tho I've started to like my color choices again tho so, onwards to 2019 I guess!
(also just realised the template came with the " 's " so i goofed up oof)

I honestly don´t even know if I have enough other Art besides comics, but maybe I´ll try to do one some other time.
I def know my Art jumped up a bit in June/July, when I started focussing on the comic more, and very recently this month. Can´t wait to do one next year again  !
