  1. How often do you as a creator update?
  2. As a reader how often do you check your favorite web series? [comic or novel]
  3. How do you feel on writers 'streaming' their creative process on twitch?

I have like a 10k arc that i'm starting which has like 5 parts that I was going to serialize on fridays at nine am for 5-6 weeks . . . I have had a break of about 1 month where I didn't post too much because I was writing, does this 'break' need to be filled with some sort of a content in your opinion..

  1. For a long while it was once a week. But I have a toddler and full time job now, so its more like twice a month.
  2. My favorite comic is My Dear Cold Blooded King on Line Webtoons, and it updates every Sunday. It's the only comic I read on webtoons, so I check back every Sunday. I check Tapastic every day, so whatever happens to pop up on my feed, I will read usually.
  3. I've never used Twitch before, so I don't know... haha.

1- I update biweekly, every friday and monday and I hope nothing comes in my way of that.

2- usually as frequently as it updates. But if it has no schedule and isn't on a comic site like taptastic I might check it once a year.

3- can't say much, I don't watch live streams.

1:when I damn feel like it.
2: Depends on when they update and how interesting this particular arc is, some that update 3 times a week I might leave it till the end of the week and read it all then instead of pieces. Sometimes life gets busy and I forget to check so I might have a month's backlog to go through. Also depends on where they are hosted, if its tapastic I can just click and its automatic so I dont have to remind myself as now it's become habitual to check tapastic. But I have 11ish comics on different sites so its hard to remind myself to check each one.
3:streams are'nt for me in general, I would prefer youtube videos that've cut the unnecessary like sarrowsmith10 time is not abundant so it needs to be used wisely.

1: I try to update as often, once a week or every two weeks. Depends on how my schedule looks.

2: Oh man if I've not subscribed, every week to every day(like 19 Days by Old Xian and Their Story/SQ by Tan Jiu). Sometimes I even check their blog and see if they posted anything fun like drawings or other small comics

3: Uh...they do something like that? o.o I thought only artist do that like my brother.

For the ones that I'm really invested in, about once a day/every second day. For others I usually only check in on days that they update or at the beginning of each week. And for ones that rarely update, I usually check once every 6 months (or I just end up forgetting about them then rediscovering them years later only to find out that crazy stuff has happened or the projects been dropped...).

  1. Twice a week, Friday and Sunday.
  2. Feedly and Tapas I check more than 5 times a day. =w=
  3. Writers? Ehhh...That's not the same as Artists. It seems a bit odd to read as they go while for artists, seeing the prep work is great.
  1. I used to update every five days for all my series, but I stopped caring so I update when I want to.

  2. I used to log into Tapas everyday to see if there were any updates, but I stopped.

  3. I wouldn't mind watching a writer stream. I've never watched any writers stream before.

I think the consensus here is most people post often when they have content and people if they're interested in an arc like daily updates. Also no one really thinks writer streams are really interesting because it's not very popular.

1: weekly
2: if its on tapas or somewhere else ill get a notification, within the week they post it. if not.... within the..... decade.. that they post it
3: writers? wouldnt be so into that i think

  • I uploaded one page every day (I had a huge buffer), after that started running out I uploaded one page a week, and now I upload one episode approximately every two weeks (episodes of around 20-ish pages).
  • I log in to Tapas every day, but don't always immediately read all the new updates, it depends on my mood, really xD
  • I don't watch Twitch, but I sporadically watch comic artists work on Picarto (I 'watch' it on my second screen while working on my own comic ^^' )

1 I upload once a week.
2 I check my favorite comics out weekly.Mainly for Tower of God, Dice, and God of High School. Then I binge read my favorite series on Taps since that update constantly.
3 Never been on twitch but I watch similar vids on YouTube?

  1. I currently upload three days a week, but will be starting to upload only 2 starting next week (still haven't told my subs yet).

  2. It really depends, for the series I absolutely adore I usually check it out the second I see a new episode comes out, if it's one I mildly enjoy I'll wait for a couple days to build up, and if I feel one just isn't holding up I unsub (it sounds mean, but I'm actually doing them a favor when I do that).

  3. Idk, as an old man I find it as weird as when someone peers their head over my shoulder to see what I'm drawing so it's something I wouldn't personally feel comfortable doing. I'm not one of those kind of guys who enjoy watching someone else draw when I could just do it myself (hope that doesn't come off as stand offish). I can understand the appeal of watching someone else showing others how they do things, no reason to shun or look down on them.

1) As a creator I update weekly for (Semi) Super

2) As a reader, as soon as I see an update for a fave, I read it. I'm usually working but I still will always find a way to make time for my faves. Without support and people actually reading it after all, most stories kinda fall off.

3) I've not used twitch, but I feel like it would be a great way to connect with your audience and keep people engaged. More power to anyone doing it basically.

1.) I update Low-Tier Jane once a week, twice if able.
2.) Every morning, I got a tradition. I spend a half-hour abouts to quickly check my webcomics on both here on Tapastic and the ones I read on other sites. I also do things like check Tumblr and Memebase here as well. Then I pick a youtube video that's updated, like Muselk or Alpharad to watch and eat breakfast with. Then actual work.
So, basically every day.
3.) I've never used Twitch myself, or really watched anybody on it, not my style, but I can get the appeal. I'd try it myself, but I don't think my computer could handle the strain of art programs, internet w/music, and twitch streaming. It's buggy enough already!

9 days later

1- I started this week, but i plan to update tuesdays and thursdays.
2-I check if they updated almost everyday.
3-I dont know what twitch is, so i dont know.

  1. I update BSandL every Friday. Wednesdays for my patrons! ;D
  2. I read webcomics mostly on Tapas and I visit the Tapas desktop site several times a day, so if one of my faves updates, I'll read it immediately.
  3. I've never watched a writer stream so I don't know how they work, but I imagine that they might be of interest to those who wish to see someone's writing process.
  1. Usually 3 days a week.

  2. I'll read my favourite comics the day they update, since I get notifications. The only time I get delayed reading stuff is if work gets crazy and I don't get home until late and am exhausted.

  3. I think if artists want to stream, that's great, but I'm an introvert and am very shy, so I wouldn't feel comfortable doing it myself. I think when people do stream it can be very beneficial to those watching as they may learn a new tip or trick to help streamline the creative process themselves.

  1. In terms of my current series, it updates whenever I have an issue completed, which can mean anywhere up to 3 months in between issues. The new series I'm working on is planned to update on a once-a-week basis, hence taking the next couple of months to get a couple of issues done in advance. That way I can be far ahead enough to work on it at a more leisurely pace and give time to other projects as well.
  2. Usually whenever it updates, unless I'm just not in the mood to use the laptop.
  3. I'm all for creative people of any stripe streaming their work as it provides great insight into the working process and the communication aspect can be a great connection between the creator and their fans, but watching and/or doing streams doesn't chime with me personally.
  1. I update 5 pages a week but I'm still considering how I'll work with that along with school :frowning:
  2. My favorite webcomics are The Boy Who Fell, Azura's Heart and Star Gazer<3 I check everyday if they've updated yet lololol ah but for tbwf I tend to wait out for the pages to pile up so I can binge read it
  3. I don't know what Twitch is sorry
