Yep, of course they do. It depends on how it is told though, and the psychology behind a good hook.

In this case, some things that might grab the most attention are:

-Big numbers

-Philosophical questions

-An unexpected first line (base this off your title/art in this case) Like a contrast between a cute title and cover and the first line being "I will burn the entire world to ashes."

-a relatable situation/ thought process

-a mysterious description using thoughts

Then I'm in agreement with some of the other writers, it can be attention grabbing but it really depends on what the thought consists of, or what surprise it may reveal about the story plot or characters.

The really stupid ones do. I suggest Twitter if you're going to go that route.
