Biggest webcomic goofs?

Let's face it. We've all goofed at our webcomics even when we were good at or experienced. My biggest comic good (as a newbie) was not joining listings or social media sooner. I think I feel behind because of it.

Making a full colour comic when I hate colouring with every single fibre of my being.

changing my art style dramatically in the middle of scenes, and drawing literally everything inconsistently. luckily I've gotten past those things

I'm only like 14 pages in and inconsistency is already my worst thing xD I've made very little effort to make misc. props look exactly the same scene to scene (the rocks they get on page 7 and then turn in on page 11 or 12 don't look very similar at all LOL) and also forgetting some props panel to panel. It's not the worst, but something to work on...

I don't even wanna talk about the very first webcomics I made... I 'wrote' the stories in my head but never bothered to commit even a basic outline on paper. I had the endings all planned out but no real idea how to get there. Not to mention I was totally in my edgy, melodramatic phase where I thought everything had to be symbolic and sad and dramatic so basically it was a total shitshow. This was back when I was in highschool though, so I have long since learned my lessons! lol

My recent goofs haven't been so bad though, usually things like forgetting a character has a piercing or spelling errors. Y'know, stuff that's fixed fairly easily. Probably the worst thing I've done within the last few years is drawing ears in two completely different styles throughout the whole comic. Like... Sometimes I didn't even use the same style within a panel. XD

Well, sure some or many people indeed can (after seeing fellow artist friends are doing it), so I think "Why not make one?"

Turns out, I dislike it, it's not my thing. Making one page can cost me a month , while others can do it in day. Now I have published chapter one of a story in webcomic and I don't think I can finish it. I still finding a way to convert it into a novel format, but readers will be disappointed I am sure.

my first 180 something pages were drawn at the 940x1504 size restraint and the first ~50-80 are 72dpi making it impossible to ever print

I used to put my handwriting in the speechbubbles. I could pull it off if it was readable but in the end I had to fix the text on the 50+ pages.

I listened to bad advice from a well meaning friend for years that basically bombed a BL comic that I eventually had to take down and am still rewriting to salvage it.

Basically if anyone gives advice that makes you less enthusiastic about the process of making your story, it's bad advice.

spending too much time polishing turds. i can't count how many drawings/pages/panels i've done that just weren't working at any stage of sketching, but i was tired and i'd spent too much time on them to abandon them, so i'd push on through and finish them. and they stunk.

more often than not if i'd just let the page sit for a while, came back to it a few days later, i'd be able to see what the problem was and bang out something much better. but then i'd have a finished thing i'll never use and all the time spent finishing it went to waste. so i really gotta learn to see the signs in the sketch phase and know when to bail.

One time I almost published a picture where a man was standing infront of a car and like half the car was there but on the other side of him there was no car XD I luckily caught it before I published and just cropped the picture but yeah XD Best part is it went past 2 beta readers and they both didn't notice XD

A surprising amount of mistakes can go unnoticed by readers. I once posted an update in which the mc's large facial scar was missing. No one noticed or bothered to point it out lol

I have a character who always sparkles and I keep finding panels from the beginning days where some sparkles are missing XD I feel sooo much shame each time I find one.

Not to mention I also forgot to make him sparkle in the thumbnail for months XD XD XD And yet no one ever said anything.
