Black and White, Colour or both?

I was wondering how many people are doing their comics black and white or in colour?

My comic Ragtime is more of a mixture, where it's in black and white but all the sounds effects are in colour. This isn't something new to comics but I'd love to know what you use colour for, if at all.

Feel free to put examples of your colour style as well as links to your stories.

I am a classic B&W.
Mostly because lack of skills xd (not that I am extramely skilled on B&W anyway)

The only exceptions are some covers, that I did them with the only porpuse to practice coloring schemes. I learned enough to try a whole colored chapter of the series... someday.

Also, I would like one day to do something like the mixture that you do. Its really a great method to give emphasis to certain elements, or motives of the story that is been told. A classic is to only color the blood.

So I can't really speak on this from personal experience as I am exclusively the writer for my webtoon and I know next to nothing about art theory. However, my artist, who is working on our second chapter, sent me some banger panels and one of them really stood out to me.

Wow @descendantsofether your artist is really good! I like the dynamism in this panel! So dramatic and with a feeling of "we don't know who's going to survive" because of that light between the two characters.

Anyway, I usually draw in black and white, plus lots of screentones. Colors in comics scare me a bit, I guess B&W is my comfort zone. But I'm seriously thinking of coming out of it, because of all the stunning colored webcomics that I've seen around.

With the exception of my author messages and end pages, my entire comic is done in color. Though, while I never really never thought about it before, I do do all my sound effects in black & white. Part of what I like about having it in color is it allows me to create different environments, like how the page background or panel color changes depending on the situation/area.

I love black and white colors and comics which use just one color additionally to black and white.
The hard part is to find the right balance/contrast, especially not making it too dark because
that´s really hard to read / look at the art. When it´s too light and not using enough black then
it also doesn´t look pleasing. Using too much black is the bigger mistake in my opinion

I draw my comic in black and white, only first page in each chapter is in colour.

Looking at manga, I actually find black and white intimidating. I mean, doing it well. There's alot going on in some manga pages, with the crazy detail, tones and inking and sometimes shading, sometimes not. =/

I mean, looks at this page! Why is Al fully toned, but Ed just flat, I don't know, but it works really well! The barkeep is popping out of that BG so well, and all that hatching! =p
