Books reccomendations

I'm opening this thread because i'd like to read something new (a book, but also comics or graphic novels are perfectly fine if not even better) but i have some troubles.

it might look weird to listen but i never known in my life which genre i'm the most attached to, this is why looking for something that i might like it's always a challange to me (sometimes i even think that i lack some personality, i mean, how i cannot know what i like to read/watch?).

I've always loved ships, most of the times even my own occasional stories have one or the plot basically go around the ship characters, so i can assume i like romance stuff or stories with relatively young characters, but my tastes are not so well-defined compared to other people and creators ^^" (what a mess)

Back to the main point, i'd like to receive some books/comics/graphic novels reccomendations. For now i can say that i'd like to read something that it's not too heavy or drammatic, maybe a comedy, talking about young people (ship? i love them ahaha i'd like to find one too in a reading) but my book hunt it's kinda slow-paced so if you have any quality title to suggest i'm open to anything that might fall into a "New Adult" category, or supernatural or slice of life, too!

also:

has some angsty moments but it's easy to digest with enough humor inbetween
no NSFW episodes so far
main ship is sloooow burn but the other ships are already blooming
everyone comments that the main character is a total sweetheart lol

Did you want something here on Tapas, or just book recommendations in general?

Here on Tapas, I will shamelessly promote my own novella series. lol It's got humor and it's New Adult, probably. I've only got a little posted so far, but I've got a bunch more waiting in the wings. It's urban fantasy cozy mystery.

I also just found this comic. It's cute so far, but I haven't read much yet.

If you're looking for books in general... Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman is a good one. It's comedy/satire adventure.

Hmm... I'm sure I know more books you might like, but I can't think of them right now. lol I'll come back and post if I think of more!

I'd prefer real books and comics over webcomics so far but i don't mind webcomic recommendations as well if you come up with other books title let me know!

Well, i'm also a type who gets bored of things pretty easily and i...think that i havent'd developped many interests through the time, this is why i'd like to gain more knowledge about books, comics and tv series, because i'm always watching/reading the same stuff, but i also have to say that exactly my tastes are not so defined i'm quite picky (?)

Aren't there pocket book shelves in your local bookstore? You get double for the same money you would put in books with a more stylized design and cover

I was debating recommending some novels since I don't know if they'll fit your taste, but hey, won't know if I don't put them out there. I've had a hand in all of them in some way, so I guess it's sort of self promotion....

Okay, first one, I have the least influence in. I beta read for the author and give advice when she gets stuck sometimes.

The story revolves around the main ship, though there are at least a few other ships. It's set in high school and most of the cast are related to the drama club, dubbed "the Eccentrics" due to... well, how none of them fit into the same mold as the rest of the school. It is pretty light hearted for the most part, but fair warning there's also a lot of trauma from tragic pasts.

The other two are related since one is solely mine and the other is a collaboration a fellow writer wanted to do with me that's set two years after mine. (Ha, she thought my characters would have solved all their issues in only two years?)

This is mostly a fluffy story about some ships that I've slowly been weaving in a bit of drama as it progresses. It's mostly just about their interactions and relationships with their other roommates, with a good sprinkling on supernatural. (When your future boyfriend can control people's minds and doesn't believe you really love him due to thinking he's forcing you to only think you love him.....)

Then we go two years into the future where the main ships are already firmly in dating (why aren't they married) status and meet Greer Smith. When the roommates take her in, it starts them on a new kind of adventure.... One of taking care of this stubborn woman who doesn't think she needs their help as much as they want to give it. And, yes, she's going to have a romantic interest..... we just haven't introduced him yet (we have over 40 pages of scheduled updates and I promise he's coming up soon). Though, side note, we as a group have decided if the situation had been different, Greer probably would have had a crush on Dewi.

If you like stories that invite shipping and have supernatural elements, and want an actual book to hold in your hands, I'd recommend Good Omens. It's basically about an angel and a demon who like living on earth so much, they team up to stop the prophesied end of the world (and the ensemble cast dealing with it around them).

The "main" characters aren't pictured that young, the romance is largely accidental and there's a lot of other stuff going on besides the angel and the demon accidentally falling in love, but it really has quite a few things to say that are still relevant today (the book was first published 29 years ago).

Also, it was written by Terrry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, so despite having some lore to it, it never really gets heavy.

I recently read The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert, which is really good! If you're interested in a fairy-tale-style book with a dark twist and creepy bits, this one is very well written.

If you like puns most libraries have copies of the Xanth series and they are pretty good. The nice thing is the books are written so if you are missing earlier books, you are only as confused as the new characters so it's fiiiiine. Plus PUNS. So... many.... PUNS

I don't know wether I'll enjoy something or not if everything I know in advance is just the genre. Like, sure, the adventure genre sounds like fun to me, and romance bores me, but I like Titanic and I dislike Indiana Jones.
You don't having a favourite genre is actually a good thing imo. Hell, I really really don't like romance of any kind, and I'm subbed to a couple of BL stories here in Tapas just because they look good and/or have an original style or plot that caught my attention. Why should I care that it says BL? It's just nonsense.
