Bringing Community Back

Doing a bit of brainstorming here, I’d love to get your feedback!

Way back when, I know that there were many ways in which social media was a little more community-oriented; from DTIYS challenges becoming less popular to hashtags no longer working on main media sites like they are suggested to, things have been feeling a little blurred and distant to me, as someone who has been using social media in a very much social sense since 2014.

I’d like to try to bring back a bit of a community feel! Of course, the best way to start is on our pages and in our stories - that’s what we have access to, and they’re what we use to build our own communities via following and such.

I have a few ideas for this…

Maybe sharing the ‘best’ comment from the previous chapter could be fun! Or maybe during promo! Give people a sense of what they’re getting into via reading the story!

Sharing community-made character art! Give a bit of a visual for the chapter, maybe? With links to the artist of course.

Q&A;s don’t really seem to get a lot of responses, but maybe themed ones could be fun?

Maybe bring back community shout-outs at the end of chapters? Like once a week say hey guys Simon has a great story, check it out!

Do you have other ideas? I’d love to hear them! Maybe we can organize something between a few people!

Comic jams, comic collabs or illustration collabs can bring community back.
You just have to know that 50% of them don´t work. But the other 50% are
great fun.

This os the kind of thing I'd had on my mind for a while now and I def like the ideas you shared

stuff thats gets people interacting again are usually my favorite so stuff thats encouraging conversation is usually where my mind goes along with bringing to light under-repped folks in shoutouts or shares especially due to some recent goings on and just the time of year

I'm not too big on collabs but i do think small comic or novel jams could be a fun thing to do. Kind of low stakes but with enough time that people can prep and post by whatever deadline is set so everyone has a fighting chance to participate

Maybe something like crossovers or cameos for the willing even if its just likesmall easter eggs or simple bonus content way back when tapas prom was a community thing i know I'd slip a couple in when i could participate and i feel like even official channels kind of got into the mix but folks would have to correct me on that if im wrong (;; =<=)7

but i do like the overall idea and hope to see what other folks come up with

The difficult part with this is I’m not writing a comic, I have novel, but yeah something like that!

I added comments and art to my first 5 chapters! I wonder how people will like it! It’s a test for now, but I think it could nice!

A few years ago I joined a easter colab, where creators made a huge chibi-pile of their characters, that was a fun community event

Back in the day, it was common practice to add cameos of each other's characters in our comics. Not really sure how that would work with novels, though...
