It's not ugly, it's a perfect design. Among the Soviet cars for sure.
Better of this is only German classics from 80-early 90s (like Mercedes W123 and W124 or BMW 5 E28 and E34) and US full-size sedans from 60-80s (like Chevrolet Caprice or Ford LTD/LTD Crown Victoria), or Cadillacs (is in those 5% of modern cars which looks at least ok).
Nobody and nothing will change my mind on that subject.
I'm driving my car without all that fancy electronic stuff every winter and in mountains too, because here are mountainous area already and I didn't died yet and even didn't even crashed at winter. I'm not OK with ugliness. Skill is that what matter.
Style > over everything else.
I'm not so big, but art person, and I'm not going to use things that are looking generic, including cars (of course using my taste of things in choosing, not just things that's looks unusual). Of course I can't afford a classic Mercedes yet, so I use Lada for now.
In big city already nobody drives them so it's really looks different than a rest than 99% of cars (if it's 2010 model) and draws attention if it's 1976 model, that's exactly what I need from car.
Are you mad, have you seen centipedes??? I dislike spiders a whole lot (a bit of a childhood trauma), but yeah, I am okay with little home fellas, but f*cking centipedes, if you ever saw one in your house toilet in the night, this is not something to take lightly I haven't ask other people about freaking over those, but maaaaan, I'd die if I saw one on me.
Come on. Do you think that seeing creatures, which you mentioned, simply inside of toilet room is really creepy?
What is really creepy is to see something living inside of toilet pan itself...
@33rdCenturyCaveman Comon. You forgot to disagree with someone.
Eh. I don't think that every song should have deep meaning.
Music about sex, drugs and rock'n'roll also can be fun. If well-executed, of course.
(since it's a disagreement thread) I don't care about lyrics at all, mostly I don't listen to them at all
I suppose it happened because I started listening to the songs in English when I was pretty young, the lyrics of Russian pop scene of 90's were hilariously awful and the only Russian band I could listen to was Agatha Christie, who were freaking drug addicts and this was very clear in their lyrics. I was never striving to understand the lyrics, even though my English wasn't half bad. Then I became a fan of the German music, and of course, I had zero knowledge of the language. In the end, the music and the voice are the only things I care about, they can sing about pink crocodiles in the sky for all I care I do appreciate good lyrics of course, but I need to read those first anyway, because I won't even hear them in the song.
Lyrics add to the intensity of a song. They're just as important as the rest of the instruments. And since I understand just about any style now, even Death Metal and Deathcore, I can't get away from what the songs are about.
The only exception is for non English speaking music. I like a lot of Japanese bands, but I can't understand them. (Not counting words I've heard in anime a billion times xD) I give these bands a pass and hope what I'm listening to isn't too horrible XD
@tired_programmer well...none of those things I identify with, so why would I listen to them? I listen to my share of music with no meaning, but if it involves those topics, I skip it.
It's ok when it's your personal opinion. But it's my car and when someone says it'an ugly - it's almost like to say one of my relatives is an ugly, because I love my car, at least I love it more than 99,9 % of humans on this earth. I'll fight until last drop of blood with that opinion. No offense to you personally anyway 0_^
It's reliable, of course. Also it's repairable, you can find parts for repair in every place in Russia, and many countries which had been is Eastern Bloc, because it was sold there before 1991. Also repair parts are dirt cheap, really, even me can afford them and I'm poor as church mouse. And you can repair it in every place, because it's easy as can be.
Also, it's a beautiful design. But it's my personal opinion. And it was constructed in USSR, it also matters, at least for me (because everything is what constructed in post-1991 Russia is crap - Soviet = Best in the world, at least for me).
Also - it's rear wheel drive ,it's means that you can drift it in every place you want (it's very fun actually), especially if it's winter. Also classic Ladas is having huge potential for tuning, yes.
And anyway I love my car, I'm not going explain it further. At least it's not against me, like the world I'm living in.
