Character and character dynamics!

in general I love big family and found Dynamics (Hence why my comic TLC on tapas has a family with 9 children)

One of my favorite character tropes is the subdued smart one in a crowd of loud excitable people, I also like sibling Dynamics like elder siblings being protective of younger ones or siblings that get on each other's nerve all the time but would also do absolutely anything for each other!

Kinda a sucker for caretaker dynamics, I have a few in my comic. I love it when the grumpy, cold, unfeeling individual actually really deeply cares about someone platonically, like a sibling or child, etc. and takes care of them. That kind of sh​t melts me

I love it when the short boy of the book is a complete tsundere! Like this trope is overused for girls but for some reason, when a guy is put into the picture, it’s just perfect!

As long as the characters a believable and their motivations are logical or illogical (if they're that sort of person).

That said I like characters that are introspective, just because basically that's all I know. Relating with other characters in a fun yet tense way is interesting as characters get to know one another. Misunderstandings and inner monologues help.

I like bash brothers, action duos, the buddies who fight in tandem and got the others back no matter how tough the going gets

I like the happy go lucky strong guy, who would do anything for his friends and family
I know it's cliche but I just love them, bonus points for the self sacrificing troupe and a bitter sweet ending for the character just makes it 100X better

My absolute number 1 trash trope that I'm always there for is a dynamic that goes like this:

Person A is an upstanding eagle scout who always likes to live up to everyone's expectations and is always being praised for how good and upstanding they are. Secretly they really would like to blow off steam and be allowed to have a bad day or be angry or tell everyone to F off just once in a while, but they always bottle it all up
They meet...
Person B, who seems like an absolute villain. They make dark and morbid jokes, they imply that they've done awful things, they look scary and have a terrible reputation. BUT secretly they're an absolute cinnamon bun who has just cultivated a scary persona based on encouraging the rumours and people making wrong assumptions about them, and it's all to protect themselves and others.

Whether they're friends or lovers, this is one of my fave character dynamics.

I am a sucker for characters caring for an older friend or parent/grandparent, particularly if they haven't known each other since the birth of the younger but still love and are good to each other (or develop to that point). For example, I really liked the relationship Baby had with his foster dad in Baby Driver.
Like these are usually B-plots, but it just adds so much likability for the main character (in the caregiver role).

Same, except the bittersweet ending part. (I don't like when the characters I like die in general, but I especially hate it when that character was the ball of sunshine ™.)
I have a character like that, but the worst I'll ever let happen to them (besides their childhood trauma) is having them loosing an arm, and then I would give them a prosthetic arm, like I gave them arms in the first place for a reason, they need them to hug their friends...

Characters that look scary but are sweet or characters that want to be better but end up messing up. Or just sarcastic weirdos where everyone has to just facepalm around. My comic is fulla them lol

I am an absolute slut for these:

• That friendship dynamic where two people are clever and smart on their own but become two dumbasses with one collective brain cell when they're left in a room together

• FOUND FAMILY! FOUND FAMILY! FOUND FAMILY!!!

• The brooding, emo goth character with a tragic backstory is soft for and will only open up to THAT ONE PERSON - typically a ray of sunshine. This one will always fucking wreck me regardless of whether or not it's platonic

• Short, angry person turns out to be extroverted one that sweeps the taller, chiller guy off their feet. You know that one story about the Reddit husbands that became viral on twitter? Yea that.

• Two characters get married mostly to con their asshole families. I did this in my Fantasy comic where one character is gay and the other just has no interest in romance in general but I wrote them as friends and it's honestly one of my favorite friendships I've written. Even better since everything turns to shit later on!

And what Reddit husbands? The only ones I know of are the gay guy and trans guy who got married so their families would leave them alone, if I remember correctly they would sleep in separate rooms at first, but then the corona lockdown brought them closer and now they're dating.

I didn't see anyone else mention it, so far, but I really like characters that are more cold and intellectual, typically holding positions of power or status, but are detached and pensive. Could probably be considered "evil or bad", from certain perspectives. Mysterious or shady aura.

I'm not sure what you'd call it, but it's different from the brooding or misunderstood person trope (which I'm not fond of).

For dynamics between characters... I'm not super sure, as I've never really thought much into it. I guess I like tsunderes, as long as they're affectionate toward the intellectual person. I don't like generic male player characters with the development or inellegence of a potato. Which I feel is insulting to the potato; please forgive me.

And same, I hate when the love interest has the personality of cardboard cutout... Like I get it they're supposed to be hot shit, but why? Some of them aren't even that good looking, they're generic looking af.

I honestly don't like tsunderes that much, but that's because the majority of the ones I found so far are just really bad written, they weren't hurt in the past or anything, they're just stuck up and mean to someone, who didn't do anything, for no reason. And also hate when they start hitting their supposed love one, and they just don't tell them to fuck off or stand up for themselves. That isn't just trust problems and trauma at that point, it's abuse.

I'm not sure if that's super it, either? But characters like Ozen from Made in Abyss, or Bernkastel, etc.

And yeah, a lot of them do hit others, but I think it depends on how it's done. I imagine a lot of that is a bit exaggerated and it's more like a gentle pat with a show or a little bop, and not actually abuse. Yandere on the other hand...

But yeah, I don't know, somehow it seems that in the anime world, you get hot points for being as stimulating as any girl's bedroom wall. I know they're made that way so guys can envision themselves as the character, but are there really any guys out there who relate to that? This is a 100% real and not rhetoric question.

Well, I don't know about guys, but definitely could never relate or insert myself in those protagonists from those otome games... Maybe it's cause I turned out to not be a girl, but I also can't relate to nb protagonist in these kinds of games.
