Honestly I would be shocked if anyone under 35 knows who Howdy Doody is. I feel like I am only aware of him because Mad Magazine made fun of him from time to time.

It was a very popular American TV show in the 50s. But has sort of fallen into obscurity.

As a little kid growing up in the late 70s/early 80's in the UK we had many "kids shows" that were nightmare fuel

I think things that have that uncanny valley feeling.
Those realistic looking baby toys creep me out. Also those Ty cuddly toys.
Also things that have,,,
Dead, off cantered eyes.
Permanent fixed grin.
Distorted body parts (like necks)
Its subtle but kids are more receptive to it than adults..so an adult may find that its something suitable but the kids know its off.
When I was a child we had this toy plastic cat that had these large blank eyes. I used to turn it around because it made me uncomfortable.

I was always afraid of Disney Animation of Snow White since I first saw it when I was a little girl. I didn't see a happy ending... I saw a creepy guy who gave a corpse a kiss... where the corpse then wakes up... he carries her away to a kingdom in the sky and she waves goodbye to her beloved friends... I always saw it as a symbol of death and I was terrified of it... I remember crying.
Now that I am an adult! I still see it as a symbol of death but now I also see that the prince might be into necrophilia because we know she ain't dead but he didn't know that! didn't stop him from kissing those cold dead lips. Sicko!

I mean this is how it was described in the official comic that came out a few years after the movie.

This comic also add other info like the evil queens name and a plot about the prince trapped in prison.

hmph? interesting... that was just my perspective of it when I was a child... I mean, I think I was 4 or 5 when I first saw it... and I remember I was crying and hug my mother. While my mother was like... "You are a strange child"

For the most part I'm not very upset by this kind of thing (I have a lot of uncanny valley tolerance)
But once I saw my little cousins watching this cartoon and... I dunno man, this just doesn't sit well with me:

It's animated like an adult web cartoon (especially the way the moon lady's eyes move) and the character designs just feel weirdly off. Like I keep expecting a gross-up or cursing or something disturbing to happen but it never does because it's a preschool cartoon so the tension just keeps going and going. Am I weird? Does anyone else see this?
