Comic newer than me has more subscription than mine

hi, i'm new here. while i have upload my comic for 2 month. i've noticed some of the comic newer than me has more subscription than mine, and they're drawing wasn't pretty( i know art is subjective), and just monotone, did they do extra things? does it mean i need to promote my comic more harder?

Kind of answered your own question right there. You didn't even post a link or have a link in your profile for people to look at. I don't know what your social media presence is either.

you always need to promote your comic "more harder" they probably have been doing that or they had a small following before posting on Tapas

It is possible that they already have a following from some other place. Either tumblr, instagram, facebook... They might also have build the hype up for their comic and such, or it's just based on taste. I prefer good story then pretty art with bad pace.

Can also because of luck. You never knew. Keep on promoting your comic everywhere, it'll help.

Don't get discouraged. Most of the webcomic game is putting yourself out there and promoting yourself.

It's not only that. some people have lot of followers on twitter instagram etc, but haven't drawn webcomics before and when they start the comic they can bring their fans to here too

worrying about how many subs other comics have is ultimately gonna suck all the fun out of making comics, you're never going to be satisfied, becayse there will always be comics that are more popular than yours for one reason or another!

instead, focus on self-promotion, get involved in social media, and enjoy your own community's growth!

Like everyone else has pointed out, there's a ton of things that go into getting followers on a webcomic. How long you've been posting has nothing to do with it. In fact, if you just slap up a comic on a website, even one with discoverability like Tapas, you'll get almost no readers.

Comics don't have to be "pretty" to be successful, and sneering at other artists for not meeting your personal marker for what looks good in comics will only hurt you.
