Some days you just don't work on your comic, even though you really want to. But no need to wait for motivation...I'm starting an October Comics Challenge so we can get stuff done for our comics everyday.

- Try to draw/work on your comic for a minimum of 30 minutes every day during October 2022.
- You can share here, anywhere, or don't share at all. Use #comicschallenge on social media if you like (so we can follow each other there).

Hi, it’s me again, Gabriella. I hosted a similar challenge to this in the past. It was so much fun hanging out with fellow comic creators, so I’ll hope you’ll join me this October.

My goal this month is to buckle down and finish up Chapter 1 of my upcoming webcomic, Kindred Not.

This looks like a fun way to share WIPs throughout the month! I use Mastodon to post my art on social media, and there don’t seem to be any posts with #comicschallenge on the instance that I use. If I’m the first to introduce it on that instance, I could include a link to your intro post!

I’m working on episode 30 of my webtoon, and how fitting that it introduces ghost characters for October! The timing for this was perfect! I added the panel below today:

Nice that your ghosts are fitting for this month. And lol I'm curious what this grocery list joke is about. What's the name of your Webtoon? You can link it if you want.

Thanks! The context for it is that the ghosts are making a stand-up comedy performance but used the wrong notes!

The Mastodon instance I use is one that’s very focused on sharing art!

My webtoon is Magical Renegades ~ Anathema to Commonsense. A magical girl series with time travel and retro aesthetics. The next episode will wrap up a 3-part event. After that will be the next day and the next major story arc!

I checked out the beginning of Magical Renegades. The plot has a cute set up. Also, I really like all the colorful patterns/backgrounds/magical elements. You're really good at that.

Day 2 of Comics Challenge! (Not too late for anyone to join, as I announced the challenge kinda last minute.)

Today, I finished inking the backgrounds on the page I was working on. Also, started inking some characters.

The room the next episode takes place is already modeled, and I’m at the point where I'm ready to render backgrounds by adjusting the camera angles and lighting!

These are adjustments when the lights above the stage turn off; the ceiling lights and the lights on the stage changed color for a dramatic effect!

Hey, Gabriella! It's cool to see you back with October challenge. I started mine basically today, so I am kinda late already, but I will try to catch up. I have a lot of things to draw this October, since I am having a really hard time for the last couple of months and both of my comics were on a bit of a hiatus. Nonetheless I am joining you with a black and white comedy comic that I will update on my Instagram for now ^^

Day 3 of Comics Challenge!

My goal this month is to finish the last six pages of chapter 1 for my comic. They're already sketched out, so this week I'll continue doing a bunch of "inking." Which is actually kinda fitting since Inktober is going on right now.

Day 4! A few more inked panels (in random order.)

Comics are a slow process. But slow and steady wins the race. So I'm glad to be in a routine now of getting a bit done each day.

That's very true!
You got a very nice inking brush here. Looks like the one I use for sketching. But never for comic lineart, because it's too soft and I make a lot of mess xD you have some really clean lines!

I finished and published today's update and sketched tomorrow's one, plus lined a couple of panels. Tomorrow's update has more going on, so I will have try and work faster.

@Kelheor Thanks! Yeah, I like using "pencil" type brushes for lineart. Nice job getting stuff done.

@SynergyEclipse Sounds like you did a bit of everything. Kinda funny how us comic creators have to have so many different skills. Keep up the good work!

Day 5! Lined Caden in these two panels (the backgrounds were already done.)

The leaves are changing colors where I live and it's been so nice out recently. How about for you guys?
