Okay, so this is a little different than most self-promotion threads. It's going to require some ground rules, and a little more effort than dropping a pitch and a link. The intention of this thread is to get real interaction with your work--new readers that are willing to take the time to subscribe, read, like, and comment. I feel like we really need this in the forums because we all want to grow our following, but a lot of self-promotion threads can be really impersonal and lack interaction between people.

Here's the basic premise:

  • Person A posts their link and their pitch. They also describe what kinds of comics/novels they like to read. (Make sure to specify if your work is a novel or comic, and if you have a preference.)
  • Person B posts their link and pitch directly under Person A's. When they post, they're committing to checking out Person A's work.
  • Person C posts their link and pitch under B's and checks out B's work.
  • The chain continues.

Also, feel free to introduce yourself in addition to your work!

Rules:

  • Don't post your link without reading the one above. If you don't like the most recently posted link, then just wait! Keep checking the thread for something that catches your eye.
  • How much you interact is up to you, but at least reading through and commenting once or twice would be nice. You don't have to subscribe, but that's a definite bonus.
  • Be nice. If the person above asks for honest critique, feel free, but otherwise, keep it to praise/compliments. Unsolicited critique can be more harmful than helpful.
  • Stay respectful. Don't be condescending/rude/any other type of harmful.
  • If you have multiple series, post one per reply. You can come back later and pitch your next project, but that means you're committing to reading another series as well.
  • If you want to go above and beyond with interacting with more that catch your eye, feel free!

Since I started this thread and would otherwise get a "free pass," I'm committing to checking out whoever posts underneath me in addition to them being checked out by whoever posts after them. Just a little bonus to get the thread started! Whoever posts first gets two interactions for the price of one.

So my main project hasn't started yet, but I'm working on a side story for the moment to experiment with. I'll also post other extras here once the main series has started. The genres include drama, fantasy, magic, adventure, and action. You can find it here:

As for series I like, I prefer comics over novels but will read both. I love fantasy, adventure, drama, sci-fi, but I'm very versatile in what I read. I am most drawn to interesting concepts and individualized art styles!

I really hope that this thread takes off, because I want to make new friends and discover new series, not just self-promote!

I like this idea! I'll check out your comic in a bit.

Genre: Scifi, Action, Thriller
Novel
A short story collection that involves science fiction, fast-paced action scenes, and dystopic universes.

I don't mind comics or novels. I like reading scifi, action, and slice of life.

Genre: Fantasy

A magician in training learns to hone his powers with a number of challenges. It's a novel.

I'm fine with novels or comics. I like reading Shounen, fantasy, action, something funny is always nice.

I'll claim this one then, will read later. If the author wants I can leave my thoughts later as well.

Here is my subpar comic. It's a action/fantasy comic.

((Apparently I was ninja'd while writing this but idc

I'll take over here.

Jervis T Booker is a wandering warrior looking for his daughter, along the way he makes friends and enemies.

I like comics and novels, and I enjoy action, and fantasy series.

@lordsomething36 I gotchu.

I'll read pretty much anything, comic or novel. I tend to lean more towards stories with dark themes, though. My comic is just getting started and just finished it's prologue this last update. The genres are fantasy, action, and drama with a sprinkle of romance.

Also, love this idea. A lot of the stuff here looks really interesting so I'll probably be checking out more than one.

I find that if every promotion thread were like this, we all would constantly discover new artists and stories we like. I'm gonna leave mine since I actually checked Lycoris Rising, right abouve me, and seems quite promising. Good job!

Edit: I mean, unless people starts spamming their thing in order for others to read only them hahaha.

I am liking this idea so I'll leave my comic here.

Genre: Sci-fi, Action, Comedy

Comic

This is the story of Central Smith, a man who wants to become the worlds strongest upgraded fighter. He must climb the ranks to reach the #1 spot.

It's kinda like a shounen series.

Reply with similar kinds of series.

hello! just passing through~
I've read some of both of your links and although I'm not a much of a shounen reader, I think you're doing alright:+1:

if you're looking for recommendations of shounen style comic to read, my friend has one if you wanna check it out

https://tapas.io/series/Seeing-Red-Again5

I checked it, there is a lot of episode there!

Somehow, i find a resemblance between her

and her:

@thel3tterm <-- credit to him

(mostly the wait hair xD)

As for my comic... Feel free to comment all you think

I've been seeing your art in the forums for some time now. Time to check it out.

@neardrive Everybody looks imperfect! In a good way, their human (well it seems like in some cases not human, but yeah) not some porcelaine doll and you can really shot that. I really like how expressive your faces, no your people, no even the horses are. Your style portrays the hectic and violent motions in a clear, yet not to clean way, really fitting of violence and action.

I'm currently also having a Q&A till sunday; link in my description.

Okie Dokie!

So I wrote a novel here like 2 years ago, It had a small but decent reaction! But then I went into a depression spiral (Mom passed away) and I focused on playing music. My friends and family have been bugging me to continue the story... so after enough egging me on enough, I've come back and started my second little novel, the 2nd Kursed novel. This novel follows a woman named Maritza who is trying to let go of her dark past, only to have an old adversary force her into the light. I'm really just hoping to get some people to read it and get into it, Mostly cuz my daughter keeps asking me what people thought of it LOL

I love reading dark horror mostly, and funny comics like Mr. Lovenstein and drama stuff like Problem Child by Brian Ellis.

I'd love some suggestions from you all! And thanks in advance for checking my book out, hope you dig https://tapas.io/series/The-Kursed-Maritza/info3

Wow, thanks for that analisys!!

To be fair, i do not draw it (i'm partning with an artist for that), but i'll make sure to give him your opinion! He will be very happy to hear that :3

My job here is the plot, the world building and crop the pages to fit into a webcomic (which i'm sure worses the overall T^T).
Anyway, you can check more of my artist here4.

Looks like I'm reading yours @R.E.G

For the person who ends up with mine, I hope you like it! I takes place in a post-apocalyptic fantasy world where some people have managed to cling on to civilisation. Features a different take on dragons and elves, a female protagonist, lgbt main cast, and ships (both kinds).

Well I guess I read it and liked it enough to sub too! I'm intrigued by Maritza and where her powers came from and look forward to reading more.

Fantastic thread you got here, Eloquent! Thanks for the opportunity! Call me Howell. I was originally an English teacher living in Beijing, China. Now I'm in the US, working on my Master's degree in 2D Animation/Storyboarding. But I just love writing and drawing!

Lemme ask you folks: What do you get when Looney Tunes, with a penchant for cult monster movies, puts their hands on a Japanese anime? You'd get my novel, Frightful & Delightful.

The good news is, as of today, the first book of my novel series has finally been fully published on Tapas! Frightful & Delightful was a contestant for the July Writer's Camp of 2018. It's a novel first, but now that it's fully online (completely a free read), I can finally do what I've always planned it to be: make it a multimedia novel! There will be (more) illustrations, comic strips, and even animations and music/sound. This has been a pet project of mine for ten years, now, and I'm so stoked that it's finally reached its first major milestone!

Frightful & Delightful is the first adventure of the Long-Lost Youth Chronicles. Here are the details:
"Welcome, human, to Hallows Earth! A Halloween/Mardi Gras planet stuck in the Industrial Age, and it's your one-way ticket to see how three monsters managed to toss this whole world into absolute chaos. Who're the three culprits? Elisabeth, a nun-to-be forced into the role of the spider princess; Graffiti, a street-art revolutionist stuck in a vampire's street gang; and Grampa Kel, a beloved politician running from his past."

And yes, I TOTALLY DO WANT CRITICISM! I welcome it! For you see, my novel covers difficult topics that many teenagers face nowadays: social injustice, gender identity, body shame, question of faith, future careers, family dynamic, crushes, a ghostly teacher who won't stop haunting if you didn't do your homework--I mean, what? Anyway, I've done as much research as I could, but I know there's still more room for learning and improvement. If you're reading and you see a discrepancy in a represented culture/faith, please let me know so that I may fix it! (I also totally welcome edits and flow suggestions. I, too, am an editor, so I completely believe in the value of criticism.) Definitely keep the dialogue open! Because in the end, I want the message of my novel to be absolutely clear: No matter how much of an outcast you feel like you are, you will always have a family who'll stand by your side, whether they be family by blood or by bond!

Here's some pictures in the book so far!

Thanks for hearing me prattle! Check out the story, if yah'd like.

OH MY GOSH!! R.E.G.!! It's been so long, man! I was wondering how you and the other Tapas writers were doing. I'm so sorry to hear about your mother. :frowning: But I'm so glad to see you're back in action! Your previous book was phenomenal. I can't wait to read your new one!

You're fine!

For whoever posts next, just make sure you're reading @kybrehowe's so they get at least one interaction. If the thread goes silent for long enough, I'd be happy to read because I love the style, but I don't have another series to promote so I want to give others a chance.
