Every single day I think about deleting my twitter account.
Not just about politics, but about just art twitter politics. Lately we've had some really awful and very hypocritical and kind of...dangerous arguments throughout art twitter that really made me...unfollow a hell ton of people. It made me really angry, and I don't like seeing that in my art community.
I had to be reminded that...it's not my community, they don't even know who I am. So their hot take doesn't need to be my hot take.
But damn art twitter is the freakin worst. Lately it's just been watching the art twitter greats fall from grace like it's the Fall of Rome. Just a huge train wreck. And they're SO hypocritical I just can not. People on there I swear they can't see the forest from the trees.
And my posts don't get much engagement. I find it helps to do posts that relate to other people's posts--so that way they're more likely to retweet you. So if I do a cute cat portrait of a cat from a popular user's twitter, they'll retweet. If I do a post that relates to a joke someone like Chris Fleming or Worthikid's makes--they'll probably retweet. Pay attention to who retweets fanart--draw for that person. It's a great way to start building followers, although I wouldn't make it all I do.
But I'm also not super excellent at Twitter. I basically gave it up this year I just can not. But, I stay because there's some people there I truly like, I just have to pay attention to the people I like vs literally everything else.
