I.. am going to gush like hell about bands I like and their music videos lol I'm gonna do this in the cleanest way I can for the thread. Fair warning for those that don't know these bands, each band that I talk about does that screamy type of music so.. yeah~
Architects
"Gone With The Wind"
Literally everything about the background, OH MY GOD. They made the eclipse that's the cover of their album "All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us" with these floating cube pieces and it moves perfectly to the guitar riffs!!
"Doomsday"
This song was sort of a tribute for their guitarist who passed away about a year ago, I believe? The visuals for this are breathtaking, especially this weird particle effect that the band members have in the video, they look like they gradually turn into dust and it's cool as heck
Bring Me The Horizon
"Shadow Moses"
Whatever this 3D effect is, I absolutely love it. The locations they picked out for the video are great too, something about playing instruments in a snowy field is pretty cool. Same with the feather stuff going on here.
The Devil Wears Prada
"HTML Rulez D00d"
The video here depicts this story and ughhh it's a touching. You have this old man examining diamonds and he stores them in hollowed out insects. These men come to rob the man of his diamonds and they end up killing him in the process, they get NOTHING out of it and the diamonds are safe.
"Sailor's Prayer"
This one follows a puppet! The story is interesting, and heartbreaking at the end. I'm not gonna go in-depth on the video itself. The story is why I'm talking about it, but I'm not gonna talk about the story lol
Underoath
"Paper Lung"
The atmosphere in this is everything to me. There's a lot going on in the video. The song and the video share this dynamic of calmness and intensity. When the music calms down, the imagery follows along. When it intensifies.. It definitely intensifies.
"In Division"
I love this one for the aesthetic of water flooding a house. This affects the band members and their orientation. Towards the end, the band and the characters in the video get more and more submerged in water, until they eventually drown. The filming of this looks really fun. They had sets and everything.
Silent Planet
"Panic Room"
The video focuses on the unease that comes after returning home from a war-ridden country. It deals a lot with veterans and PTSD. It's better if you watch the video, honestly. It gets the message across better than I could. The spoken word in this gave me chills the first time hearing it.
"Orphan"
The video explores two religious men preparing to kill each other for their own beliefs. One of them is stopped by the realization the what he's doing is wrong, while the other is intent on killing only to be stopped by a dream. These two brothers (debatable whether it's figurative or literal) are separated and once they meet up it's an awfully emotional moment. The scenes with the flower petals are definitely my favorites out of the video. Specifically the one at 4:07.
"Depths II"
The video and song together are hauntingly beautiful. And it's all just based on the dream the lead vocalist had. His lyrics are poetic as hell, written footnotes for everything. I've never seen any band go this in-depth on the meaning behind their songs. This band deserves more recognition, honestly. Lord, did you see me as I was dreaming? will always be a favorite line from this song.
