Could someone please give feedback on my comic?

So, I am now working on this comic called Starbird Island. I started it about 6 weeks ago and I am uploading once a week. I've uploaded 7 pages now. It's an adventure comic with not a very realistic style. Here are some things I've been thinking about. Could the thumbnail for example be more attractive? Is the background too simple? Is the format attractive? I would be really happy if I could get some feedback, thank you in advance.

I quite liked the storyline so far. I think the simple background works just fine since you've got a good grasp on perspective and the drab colours of the walls really gives the prison rooms a dreary, lost-all-hope feel. The font is easy enough to read, but you might want to give a little more space around the text in the speech bubbles. When the words get too close to the border of the speech bubble, it can make it difficult to read. The layout is simple, but flows well. It reminds me of my old Sonic comics in the layout. It's easy to follow the sequence of events from the top of each page to the bottom. Your character design is very cute and you're consistent throughout. I look forward to reading more!

Here's some feedback!

Could the thumbnail for example be more attractive?

R: YES!! Your illustrations look really good and I do think you need a thumbnail that reflects a bit more your comic!

First of all I think you don't have to use the title on the thumbnail because the name of the comic will be always next to the Thumbnail! (but is a personal choice)

My suggestion would be to have a close up of your main character! On your thumbnail right now the character is too small and it's hard to see how cool it is !

Is the background too simple?

R: I don't think the background is too simple! I think it works well with the style of the comic! It looks good to me!

Is the format attractive?

R: I think the format looks good! Overall I liked the episodes so far! The story is heading to a good start! And the illustrations look entertaining and cute! One of the suggestions I have is to be careful with you speech balloons. Sometimes you have the text too near the edges and it gets wierd! Have a little more space between the text and the balloon border line !

The other suggestion is try finding a cartoony font to use! Even tho I could read pretty nicely all of you texts, I do think it could look better with a handwriting/cartoony style font! But this is only an extra it looks good already !

Thank you very much for the review, I really appreciate it. it's good to hear that you liked it. I will take your advice and improve my speech bubbles. One question though if you don't mind, Is the speech natural? I mean, I am not a native English speaker so that's why I am asking.

one comment i'd definitely like to make is on the paneling style. many of your panels are about the same size as far as i've seen, and because the backgrounds are almost empty, it becomes a little bit monotonous in terms of variety. maybe consider in the future giving more thought to why each panel needs to be a certain size--like, "because this panel reveals something important, it needs to be larger and more noticeable than the others."

even with empty backgrounds, you can still find ways to make things interesting with dynamic lighting and perspective! focusing on close-shot character gesture and interaction is a good way to mix things up too.

Uh, sure... I look into it. I'll try to make my comic more interesting, thanks. I just want to say that I do give it a deep thought when I am choosing the panel size.
