I'm working on a brand new series off screen and wanted to get some concept ideas for a cover later. My only issue is that I'm unsure of what I could have to really show what the story is about. Giving a brief summary here, I'm hoping some of you might have some ideas for me. And please link any commissions for art you have too:blush: As I might consider having the characters featured on the cover and will have character art done much later, when I'm close to the publishing online stage.

The story I'm working on is a time travel mystery. It follows a Private Investigator who's able to help solve cold cases by going back and time to find clues overlooked at the time. The concept of time travel I'm using for this series is using photos to jump back in time to that date on the picture. The main investigator, Kellan, is able to travel through time as it's been a thing all his family and ancestors have done in the past. Call it a "blessing/curse" that he's trying to make the best of by helping people. I'm only on the first draft of this and know I need to expound on it more, but if you've got any questions, ask away! The main thing I'm looking for is advise on what I could have on a cover to make this idea stand out. I considered something with the two leads, as if they're both stuck in like different worlds. Or maybe something with a clock to indicate traveling back in time?

hm. maybe you could use darker background ( dark blue or purple?) or some shade of brown, put few photographs since it's the way of time traveling, and mysterious silhouette.

or if you want two leads, ,maybe draw "film" (for old cameras), above film you can draw one person, under it draw other, then they could reach to touch each other? Photographs in film could be either little sneak peeks or just blur them/ make them look burned, one of them could wear pocket watch? Or you could draw little pocket watch dangling from tittle of your novel/comic.

Maybe a clockwork with two dials. The hands of the left dial turn counterclockwise, the hands of the right dial turn clockwise.
I did a quick drawing in AI. The two big gears turn in that way if driven by the smaller gear.

I am typically very harsh with covers as I have dabbled in digital art and cover making, but I must admit, that is a fantastically manipulated cover.

Oh whoops I slapped this together before I read the rest of the thread, but here's the quickest crappiest mockup of what popped into my head as I read your synopsis. Too late though, you already had a cover made. Oh well, here have this idea anyway

This looks really good and the only change I'd suggest would be to see if you can make that text pop more from the background. Maybe try some variations with brighter gold or the blood removed, or a stronger shadow or glow around the text, and a variation where the text is in flat white. The font is really nice, it's just the spindly font in shiny gold with the texture isn't as readable as it could be on the shiny silver background.

this was my thought too. if you make it tiny the title dissapears into the background. REally want that to contrast/pop more. maybe a cast shadow or soumthin behind it, i dunno.
