When we create our comics and novels there may be a source of inspiration that helped us come up with the idea we wanted to have with our own creation. In a bit of a twist from share/promotion of novels and comics I wanted to expand on it a bit more.

What is your inspiration behind your story?

How do you mix your creativity into your work?

Was there a novel/comic on Tapas or elsewhere that was your inspiration for your own story?

So my main novel I'm working on is this one:

My main inspiration for creating this novel would be anime and video games. Some animes that I particular find inspiration from would be buddy animes. Like Buddy Complex, Toriko, Tiger & Bunny and Doug & Kirill. So when writing this story I always picture the scenes in a anime kind of format as I' m writing.

Both of mine are inspired by fairytales. His Beast is a BL based on Beauty and the Beast and Let Your Hair Down is GL inspired by Rapunzel.

With His Beast, I wanted to do a kind of dramatic departure from the classic Beauty and the Beast. My Castle is a character all of it's own and it's completely secluded, just my MC and the beast reside in it's walls. There are no talking household furnitures and no singing and dancing. My MC doesn't come from a loved household and is instead finding the solitude and finding peace within himself in the castle with the beast.

Let Your Hair Down only has one chapter posted. Again, I don't want to follow too closely to traditional Rapunzel. So far we have the lone tower in the woods and where my MC has been raised by her 'father.' Her hair is not magical. It hurts her to have her father climb it and comb it out. The second MC has yet to be introduced but she's a hoot and she's going to be the one encouraging the MC to leave the tower.

My inspiration mostly came from Chinese Webnovel, and also tales of Japan from Bakumatsu era. Something about that era always pulls me in

My inspiration was...hilarious, a video game. Well more like a video game scene.

Okay it was a single eye catch image from the Arkham Knight game, the one with Jason Todd being tormented into (spoiler) the Arkham Knight villain. From there, I wanted to do a dark romance/corruption story. Everything else kinda fell into place: I created a super villain mafia family based off of the Seven Sins, with the Leader being Wrath falling in love with someone and wanting to do anything in her power to keep them.

A lot of this inspiration comes from my love for super dark and cruel romances between villains and heroes, as well as action oriented anime and super hero stories. Batman and Catwoman as well as (of course) Joker and Harley Quinn are very much inspiration here. Also tend to find villains more interesting and inspiring, thus why I made my novel focused on the villain and her issues.

My inspiration is the tale of virgo or more known as the rape of Persephone, I really like the concept of gods and fantasy like fairy tails. As for the creativity part, I just let it roll,sometimes I read stories or watch series and then I get ideas from there and write them down and that is how I start having a more solid base for my stories! In tapas I like many stories, but I guess I started this one, because I did´t found one story line like the one I was thinking of, even if there are many stories of Hades and Persephone

My comic is inspired by soo many things!!!

I try and put as many Easter eggs/ references to books, movies and tv shows as I can. I think the strongest inspiration is quite obvious (Alice In Wonderland).

From a style point of view it is very heavily influenced by early disney concept art and golden books. I wanted it to feel like a storybook coming alive!

My inspiration comes from a lot of things, mostly western cartoons and videogames. But I really started thinking about the comic's theme when I watched Megamind, which really sprouted that idea in my head - what really can happen when your villain character gets tired(and not just redeemed by betraying the big bad's cause or something), not just in a modern setting?

Tons of my character inspirations also came from Xiaolin Showdown and the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon, the latter of which is really jank but also gave me a cozy feeling in quiet weekends. That and much more culminated in the story's framing device being the "epilogue" of what's otherwise a fantasy saturday morning cartoon.

I didn't have one single webcomic that made me go "yeah this is it", but many MANY that I read as I started considering not writing a novel but drawing it. A term I read a while ago that helped me over the years is "drinking from many fountains" and that's what my creative process is - I don't stick to just anime, just western, just movie, just videogames, just comics, just nature subreddits; all of them have something to contribute.

My webnovel was mostly inspired by random monster x human works I've stumbled across on tumblr. Then mix in a bit of Venom to the inspiration pot. Finally add a pinch of Ancient Magus Bride, except in that case I've never read or watched any of it and only know of it through other people's experience. Mainly that a few people have taken issue with the power imbalance between Elias and Chise and that spurred me to really avoid that in my story.
