Creepy questions based on your opinion

Hello everyone, just a quick question based on your opinion.

What is your reaction and how you feel when you have a lover or a spouse says this to you, “ Even in death, WILL NOT do us apart.” ?

Given our personalities and (lack of) beliefs about afterlife, I would be super creeped out if my husband said that to me. If one of us died we each hope the other person would still have a happy life and find someone else to love again. So I'd think he was about to do something out of character and scary O_O.

I can see that being a sweet thing to say for other people though.

There are people who do feel that way, and not in a creepy way either. Some people do not remarry after their spouse dies.

Lol . Thank you for your answer. I did ask my co workers about this. Some find it creepy and a few said that’s intense love and true love.

If you ask me the same question about what I feel, I don’t know if I find it hot and passionate or downright creepy.

I would feel like I have to talk to them about life and death and my opinion about it
the sentence doesn´t creep me out, I just find it a weird thought which I don´t share

My first thought would probably be that he will keep my body after death, because no one of us believe in souls

considering both of our beliefs are similar when it comes to life after death/ The dead are only gone once forgotten. I'd think my bf would be talking about that, and trying to find a cheezy way to say 'i'd never forget you' and it wouldn't really creep me out since these topics come up a lot between us. Theoretical "if I die would you X" questions.

Depends a lot on context! I think in RL someone saying that to me would just not feel realistic? I can’t picture a partner needing to express undying love to me in this way. But like, a conversation about souls, after life, soul mates, not inherently strange.

In a romance story, I would not necessarily find it strange. I kind of expect ha heightened unreality of emotion in such stories, so it could easily be romantic written in the right way. It could be an intense expression of love. It could be a hint at a story with a supernatural edge and perhaps a lover willing to cross boundaries to stay together. Or as others have said, a super creepy “I’ll keep the body in the house and keep talking to it” kind of thing.

Is it weird that I don't find this very creepy? I would be like, oh so you are going to believe in Christianity now? (you know where it is believed that you will have an afterlife in heaven if you believe in Jesus)
