If anyone feels bad hearing this because they've been around for longer than this and still see no success, I should say that it took me 6-7 years of actively trying to build a following online (by actively I mean every single minute I could spare. I would advice anyone that's serious about art or comics to go through their habits and schedules checking for any extra minutes that can be carved out for art) before getting to where I am right now, and I've been posting my art online for approx 10 years total.
Does it make me angry seeing someone come "out of nowhere", updating seldom, and get a blast of attention early on? Well it used to. But I've learnt that 1. They often worked a lot of years to get where they are now too, I just haven't seen it happen with my own eyes, 2. They work about as hard as all of us, and 3. Being angry is a waste of energy that I can use on my own stuff. We should be happy for those that succeed and study what we can do to get what they have. It's easier to work towards a goal when your sight isn't clouded with jealousy.
The art business is hard and competitive - but fun as hell and definitely worth it if you do it out of passion and love.
If you're looking for money or fame, you're in the wrong place.
Do a sex scandal or something instead if that's all you want lol.
All of this being said, I would love it if tapas had a small thumbnail scroll of the Fresh section on the front page!
