I have a website for my comic! I created it because I wanted my story to be more of a multi-genre piece rather than just a webcomic. I designed the website to look like an official website and uploaded a bunch of articles and documents that supplement the story. I used Wix to make it. For me, it was worth it because this is a hobby I don't mind spending some money on.

I also have a portfolio for my media work and it's been essential for getting jobs and sharing my work with potential clients. That's more geared towards photo and video so I don't associate it with my internet alias/webcomic.
Depending on what you want your website for, it could be a good idea! If it's something you're wanting to invest in, go for it! If you're not sure if you want to invest, you can still make a custom website for free, you just can't link a domain name to it.
