Do people ever post sketches / bonus material (e.g. seasonal images) etc as "Pages"

Just wondered, as might be a good way to keep reader interest going in between posting actual "pages"? Has anyone ever tried this?

Lots of series I know do it, but they usually reserve these extras for in between chapters so as not to interrupt the flow of reading actual pages. I think that's the best way if you're not going to create an entirely separate series for them alone.

Worth noting too, this strategy can backfire -- as a reader on Tapastic, you get a notification of an update, which means you expect a page and then get a sketch or drawing instead of a page. That can be fun as a once-in-a-while thing, but it can get annoying if it happens too often!

I try not to do this as much as possible, I think I only did it once with a Christmas page. Otherwise, all of my extras either end up on social media or my personal website.

I think doing it for seasonal holidays is ok, otherwise you shouldn't have it posted by itself as a page unless it's like a Q&A for the end of a chapter and the audience knows that it's coming.

I've done it, but I did them while I was on hiatus or at the end of my comic's run.

For sketches, no. That's what my social media is for.

Digital artworks: I created a separate series for it so it won't clutter much

Seasonal Images: yup. I did a Christmas special this past year. Also did a Q and A after volume 1 ended and that's just about it.

On my main series, I'm very particular about my pacing so I refuse to upload extras during a chapter.

I've only interrupted with a Christmas special and Q&A between the first and second chapter, but I don't think I'll ever do a Q&A on the main comic again. :'D (Took up too much space, terrible for binge readers especially)

on Tap, I post extra comics in a separate series. we'll occasionally put extras in-between chapters and I submitted a New Year pic into main series recently, but I try not to do it too often, especially since our page list is getting pretty long already. I also find that our Tapastic readership is more casual so these days we keep our wordy extras/articles over at our website for die-hard fans to read

We have a few things up right now as a separate "webcomic" and I'm sure we'll make one for our future comic. Then of course we're gonna try to utilize Patreon later on
