I wouldn't say it's tied to creativity or that being unhappy feeds creativity.
That kinda falls under that harmful mentality "if you're miserable, you can create amazing art!!", and that really isn't true. I know it's not true for me. If I'm in a slump, I will not find myself creating art. I'm not at my best to do so. And it really worries me when some people assume going through adversity will make them creatively gifted.
It's more about finding an escapism and it being a form of expression. But that's just one way. Other people find outlet via music, or writing, or cooking.
It feels like a pattern mostly because people now are so outspoken about what goes on. We're all becoming more self-aware of things that, quite frankly, have been around for a while.
We also have to remember that this forum is a minority of the Tapas creator population. So we can't really say there's a pattern.
