It's a bit confusing question I know, but the gist of it's -is the content posted on Instagram Writing based? I know Artists use it to post their art (I've done it too) but what about Writers? What do you post that's related to writing? Promoting your works???

Is there a tag being used that I don't know for Writers?

I'm ignoring Blogging / Writing Advice / Quotes cause those are the popular Instagram choices of Writers to Use the platform for.

Do you follow any writers on Instagram?

The only writer I follow on Instagram is Neil Gaiman haha. Just because he does a lot.

But I don't really use Social Media for my writing, I have no idea where to start or what to do.

I've been using my IG for spooky night time photography with vaguely threatening captions. At some point, maybe I'll promote my work!

I use Instagram to promote my work across platforms. What's smart is to promote others as well when you do so, like liking their posts or recommending their stories (which you genuinely like). I tried to use Twitter but it isn't friendly toward writers, is better to find friends than gain readers.

I use Canva to make clean and easily readable posts. Unfortunately, graphic design isn't my strong suit.

Before I started here, I did put some short scribblings on Insta. But I have fewer followers than posts, so turns out I was just killing time.

Considering that Instagram is built around posting images, I'm not sure how it can be used for writing outside of very short things that could fit into a caption or an image post.

I mainly promote my comics, I have absolutely no idea what to do on Instagram either lmao

I do, but that was because at the time I created the account, it was to be an anime and not a novel. But now I use the account to promote the novel every now and then. It is handy to have, I have created some great contacts because of it. And you can have it linked to your Facebook which is another perk.

I tried so hard to make it writing based and failed miserably.

I feel you on that, the struggle of being unable to commit to something is too easy to fall into.

Still have the IG account & my posts are still there. They're mini-short-stories & some poetry, some of them from before I started writing longer stories & YT scripts.
