Not that I have "fans", but with commenters, there's a performance of high-energy niceness just because there's no reason to act otherwise. They're not my friends and I appreciate their engagement
I'm kind of more low-energy and snarky with people I know.

I think i'm the same both online and off save for showing off my actual face online and some reservations about sharing some of the projects i'm working on with folks irl given potential reactions to people making not so lighthearted stories

i wouldnt say that i pick and choose what i share of myself online but i guess i do tend to curate how much negativity i share but there's certainly some filters that i've put off since at the end of the day i'm human so the idea of creating some kind of persona when interacting with friends or supporters seems silly to me.

can definitely relate to going with being generally polite and trying to maintain a level of enthusiasm when responding to things since i'd say that im usually kind of quiet or monotone when speaking with strangers but i'm definitely high energy when talking with friends (so long as i'm not worn out or anything)

I am who I am both in real life and in person. I’m at a stage in life where I’m trying to be my most authentic. Some people put on a facade, and they can because no one is going to see them. In my case, those who know me online and/or in person know that I don’t shy away from my true personality.

This has less to do with my comic and more to do with my interactions here on the forums. I'm far more confrontational in conversations here, but in real life I don't tend to rock the boat because I don't have the emotional or mental energy to deal with the aftermath of a possible confrontation. At some point I stop being sympathetic and caring and start actively antagonizing the person I'm speaking to. And that's not good for anybody, hence avoiding the conversation altogether. And when I say confrontational, I don’t mean I try to start fights (though I am a tad petty) but that I'm more likely to not going along with what someone is saying if I don't agree with them and voice a dissenting opinion. However, I am never above peer pressure. I do want people to like me to some extent.

Because I often give advice on here, I do try to come off more informed than I am, but I wouldn't deceive someone about my credentials, since I have none. Just my personal experience and the merit of my work.

A lot of my artwork is fun and optimistic, which is quite the opposite of my actual personality: understated, sarcastic, and somewhat cynical. I'm not being disingenuous when I draw, it's just what comes out. I like to say, I draw what I love but write what I feel. And what I feel is... very depressed most of the time

And (for me) it's not really spoilers so much as my thought process behind my work in general; I want my readers to interpret things purely from my work without being influenced by my actual opinions/intentions, but it's kind of necessary to discuss those things sometimes when talking about the craft with fellow creators :'D

I don't try to come across as more informed than I am, but I probably end up doing so anyway because I'm an arrogant SOB XD
(Also because being straightforward just gets read as 'informed/authoritative' in general, even if you're just speaking that way because you don't know how to hedge your language without making your comment 1.5x longer and 2x as unclear :P)

I'm glad someone asked this question. The answer is a hard YEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS.

It sucks a little bit I won't lie. Especially when someone thinks I'm in the wrong and I have to explain myself so I don't look bad to other potential readers or build a reputation on this site (that almost happened a year ago before I got my tonsils out, I'm WAAAAY more calm now).

First off, can I just get this off my chest?

I... don't like that you can see who liked a person's comment. Especially right before you explained yourself. Wanna know what I mean?

Not only do you see the new readers who'll potentially stay away from you because they think you're an ass (AND BELIEVE ME, IT HAPPENS), but you get the impression of the people you want to work with only saw and liked the comment where someone tells you off and didn't even bother reading the rest of the thread. ESPECIALLY WHEN THE NEXT ONE IS LIKE "OH WE'RE COOL, SORRY ABOUT THE MISUNDERSTANDING!".

Up front, I wouldn't be where I am in my career if it weren't for collaborations and I know people will say "WELL THOSE PEOPLE AREN'T WORTH WORKING WITH IN THE FIRST PLACE!"

My dry way of talking bleeds into the way I write and it suuuuuuuuuuuuucks.

This is the reason why I stopped making YouTube videos for a hard while because I couldn't tell the jokes I wanted to tell. I'm constantly like "... yeah but will people GET that I'm being sarcastic?". I try to present myself as professionally as possible on this site which is like...

I don't talk like the same way I do IRL. In real life, I'm more loose in the way I speak. I like to keep people on their toes. At one moment I'll say something and then I derail stuff into a joke or straight up gibberish making people go "... Is he serious or...?!?". I tried doing that before online and I got a lot of people on my ass in various other sites. I only do it with close friends. I can only get away with that type of stuff in my story structure.

I can't legally say what project I'm working on, but a little worry I have is like "Am I going to have to keep this up should it get big?". I mean God YES I want it to be big, but yeah.

I think I might talk like how I do IRL once I start releasing YouTube videos again, but who knows.

For those of you who want to know how I'm like in real life:

I unlisted this video once I've seen comments on the Tapas sites and I was like "Yeah... I don't know how they're going to react to the Pascal joke, the Clinton joke, or the misguided minority joke.... might as well unlist".

BTW one thing I hate is the fact that I have to stay away from political jokes. I'm not affiliated with a group, but A LARGE CHUNK OF THAT is part of my humor.

And I talk much better online than i do irl cause i have more time to think about what the heck im saying where irl words just kinda come out

I am a very awkward person IRL and very twitchy and fidgety.

I think with the lack of visual aid, that can’t really be replicated solely through text. I have also had people online accuse me of being irate when I was actually being very calm. I minored in Media Studies so I like talking about the nitty gritty of media. It’s not really me being “triggered”, it’s just something I like to talk about.

I also find it weird when people online think I am cool. Everyone IRL thinks I’m odd.
