Do you have a main female character?

I noticed there’s a lack of female MC in comics. Why is that? Do you have a comic about a girl as the protagonist?

Not a comic. But more like Novels. I haven't published many since it needs more preparation. I actually read many stories with female MC.

I don't think there is a lack of Female MC. New manhwa get published with a Female MC on a daily basis. I can't keep up trying to read all.

Maybe there is a lack of female MC in a certain genre? But if you are looking for strong female MC there are plenty.

I don't think that's true, I'd say that there are plenty female MC's, even around here.
But yeah, I do. The main character in my comic, Magic Power Ball, Is a girl called Maria...

I think there are plenty. I write two female leads in two separate stories. One female mage in a super high fantasy universe. The second perspective is a male captain of a pirate ship. Action Genre

The other a muscular werewolf lady living in Northern Ireland during the 1990s. She meets a pretty looking radio with a secret. A comedy genre.

I feel it is very common to write female leads but is it different? Sometimes you get a lot of the same personality on a popular manwha. And it's hard to read after a while

Are you talking about all comics (including print) or just webcomics? There are tons of webcomics with female leads. Mind you, if the only genre you are reading is BL, it might not seem that way.

Sure do! Although the story mostly follows Kuro, Milly is just as integral to the storyline and she's no damsel in distress. She can hold her own in her own right as well! The story wouldn't work as well as it does without her.

I´m a guy and my main characters are male.

I always noticed that there was a lack of female characters in comic books and
that they also had similar looks and roles but I think it got better and more diverse
in the last 10 years. Especially since webcomics got more popular.

It´s still way more male characters written by male and female writers

I do! Though my story is marked BL, the Goddess Kolupati is a staple character in this story. Without her, this story wouldn’t exist. Some of the novel is through her POV, and her backstory is one of the most important aspects in THD and one of my favorites :3

Yep! My main character is Melody, though I would also say the Male lead could be considered a Main character as well, so I guess I have both a male and female protagonist. But for like 90% of my stories I have planned, they are female leads. I think male authors tend to create more male protagonists while Female authors tend to do the opposite, but that’s just something i’ve noticed and isn’t always the case. Since media production and comics has been a male dominated industry for years, it makes sense that there’s a lot of male protagonists.
But, now that I think about it, there actually HAS been a lot of female protagonists in media, but it tends to be focused in romance, drama, slice-of-life,
shojo/young adult type of content; the type of media that is considered “Low-Brow” which honestly is stupid and a whole other story. But no wonder it feels like there’s not a lot of female protagonists, it’s because the main genres that consist of female protagonists is considered for children or girls specifically whereas action, fantasy, horror, sci-fi and the like all tend to have majority male protagonists, and are also considered genres and media that everyone can enjoy, not just men or women. So then the media and comics that feature women get overlooked or automatically deemed bad and unintelligent in the mainstream world due to the genre they fall under.

As other says, I too dont think theres a lack of them, but I guess it can vary depending on what genres youre mostly into maybe.
I dont read so many uh, mainstream(?) comics, more indie comics and there I feel like its easier to find female leads more often, and a more diverse group of characters as well.

Well, I was thinking about making a second story about this little vixen, it would be about her hiding her hybrid origins and the fact that she is sentienvore (is not an official name, it's still up to change), basically she feeds off sentient beings, like humans, goblins, orcs, etc. kinda like vampires.

Now, since she's an east demon, people don't know about this right away, so she and her aunt hide this so they can make a business from stealing blood from everyone in the city and giving it to other sentienvores, who had to feed from a mix of animal and syntetic blood.

About her hybrid origins, back in her homeland, hybrids are hunted down, exiled and/or killed, specially her, because she's not a human hybrid, the most common of the kind. So she and her aunt had to escape to the west to hide from the dragons (considered like gods, also have to check some details about this).

The story would be about Spring, finding out that they have competition, breaking some rules that could reveal the whole organitation, so she, along with her best friend and her best friend's sister (both unaware of spring's story and nature), will uncover the mystery that could unleash a war bewteen preys and predators, which would lead to an absolute carnage.

also she's the niece of the protagonist of my main story: Henry Hare.

Oriel is a main character but she is a deuteragonist and is not the main protagonist. Nevertheless she will have a character arc of her own to go through.
