Do you know how your main character sounds?

Just a question out of curiosity. Do you know how how your main character sounds? As in their voice? Do they sound like a specific person? Or is it a voice you haven't heard before?
... I don't know how my MC sounds... but sometime I kind of wish I did?

Yep but more of ... a tone. I recall a convo back in GAIA where my group of friends were looking up actors and the like for the voices that'd match their characters. It'd be octave vs the person's tone of voice.

No clue. But imagine how manga authors feel. They make a comic and then...bang it gets an anime and their characters now have voice actors.

I think my Main Character would have a voice similar to Mabel from Gravity Falls but with a slightly thicker and more mature-sounding voice

Yup lol I like attaching voices to characters in my head as I read my anime-influenced stuff. It makes it somewhat more engaging and gives it a bit more credibility in terms of how naturally dialogue flows. I'd go as far finding actual Japanese and English voices (gotta get that sub or dub, otherwise it ain't real) for my main characters personalities if I were somehow put together an animation for it lol

Haruka's Japanese voice is Ryuko from Kill La Kill, and her English voice is Mikasa from Attack on Titan. Calm and collected for the most part, expressive enough to have an interesting quality to it in a wide range of emotions, and having a raw aggressive nature to her voice in a rather pissed off scream, and most importantly her voice doesn't sound like she inhaled helium before recording lol

Mugen's Japanese voice is Ishida from A Silent Voice, and his English voice is Soul from Soul Eater. Chilled out vibes, but without sounding tired or trying to sound like jazziest dude on the block. That's about it lol these are expressive too but in terms of voice acting that's not really saying much

I actually have voice actresses chosen for all my Seven Sins as part of my story:

Ira has a deep melodious voice with a slight western african accent. She has a sultry voice but it seems to always have a slight growling rasp.

Meanwhile, Tristan has a gentler voice and is tenor in tone. He is a bit of a flirt, so that comes through in his voice.

As far as the ones I've actually thought about and identified:

For Heavy Horns
Andreas would sound like Nolan North, but a bit higher.
Beau would be like Geoff Stults

For Demon House
Haxan would be voiced by Steve Blum or Sonny Strait
Fawn would be voiced by Maggie Baird
Rasmus would sound like Jonas Bjerre

I KNOW exactly how my main character sound. all three of them. Strings and Time it would be nice to hear it tho instead of hearing it in my mind.
I think Braylin voice is a soft male voice. he almost sounds scared but very timid.
as for Saveli, he sounds confident and arrogant. not as deep anyway. more like mid-tone if that makes sense.
and Lyosha is definitely deep, steady and calming. he listens to more than he speaks. but when he speaks it holds carries volume.

I did the best i could in explaining their voices. not sure if it makes any sense tho lol

not particularly but my BF is an aspiring voice actor and I for him to read my novel chapters outloud on occasion. he does try to do voices that suit the character and i find it very enteraining.

except one voice. i had a naive farmer boy name Baro and he made him sound too acurrate and I never considered "oh god he's an Scottish immigrant farmer boy".

oh almost forgot there is a text to speech robot that i used to use to read my stories to me so I can hear errors and typos and I always imagine it to be the child duchess (Lady Ceila Monet) in a story of mine. don't remember the site but her voice is not free anymore

I do know how they sound for most of them which isn't always a good thing. I'm using a speech-to-text software since I can't type much anymore and I often end up imitating their voices. It does have some perks (like when I play the recordings back I can easily find what was said by which character without having to search for long) but I'm afraid it's not very good for my voice And have you ever tried to sound like a 5-year old? It's annoying to listen to ...

My MC is the only character I have that I don’t know how her voice sounds. I kind of have a vague idea since she used to be my RP character from a game I used to play. Yet, that was years ago. So nope. Side characters got voices and everything but not my main one.

I listen to webtoons dubs a lot and have a favorite set of voice actors. Ruka Samuels is how I've heard my main character Hawk for a really long time in my head and so to my absolute delight we collaborated on a dub:

Pretty much the voices are exactly how I hear them. To Terri, the writer, she said everyone just sounds like her own voice in her head. haha.

I do it mostly for fun, but I try to have headcanon voices for all of my major characters, even though in the case of a dub I can just think of the tone and attitude they could have instead. Mortimer, specifically, is inspired a lot by the mannerisms in a lot of the characters Greg Ellis voices, though I have no good video handy that's well edited, so that's kind of the voice I try to imagine him with to write a scene.

Other good examples of voices I look up to think about the character: Spinelthorn would just be Yuri Lowhenthal. You know how he sounds like - though more specifically Luka from Bayonetta. Elise would be Erin Fitzgerald, like say Parasoul from Skullgirls; Veriesin would be Nika Futterman, like Pandora from Kid Icarus Uprising or Asajj Ventress.

I feel the same. I mostly don't know how my characters sound. My sound imagination is very poor. But sometimes... I know specific voices for characters. But that's really rare.

I would be super curios how my characters sound like in other people's head.
I'm envy of my writer partner. She often speaks with our characters in her dreams.

Depending on the character type I've provided, a lot of my lady-identified characters will have my voice. It's softer and kinda low in nature, so I often see my more matured, maternal-like characters having it. Christina and Sandra are usually the ones I see my voice with.

Brenda, I see having a softer, higher-pitched voice that's not entirely nasally, but not mousy either. So kinda like...Mary Kay Bergman (who voiced Daphne Blake in the 1990s Scooby Doo movies, like Scooby Doo on Zombie Island). I could probably do Brenda's voice, but not to the extent I could see it.

I think out of all of them, the only one I'm not too sure of is the voice for Ollie? I have trouble coming up with an actual voice for her that fits her personality while at the same time, fits the image of a 14 year old girl...
