Ah, 3d.
I'm a game developer, and do both programming and 3D modeling on a professional level.
You can make some gorgeous characters and scenes with 3D work, but I will tell you right now, it's going to be a lot more work than anything 2D, hands down. If you use stock assets, people will absolutely notice and they will absolutely call you out on it. There's even a term for it; asset flipping.
If you want to avoid that, you're going to need to hire an artist like me, who's going to charge you a minimum of $1k for a fully rigged model suitable for cinematic scenes. That's just your first model. Nevermind outfits, other characters, and scene objects. Then you'll need a solid platform for it. Blender is okay, but really, you'd want to use something like UE4 or UE5 to set your scenes because it's just faster and better with lighting and all that. Build in Blender or Maya or whatever you have, but do your scenes in UE.
Is it doable? Sure. But it's expensive and massively time consuming.
And I'll be real with you, there's probably plenty of amateur folk who make comics or what have you using base characters and objects and all that, but from a professional standpoint, most of that stuff is poor quality and has low readership for a reason. If you want to take your work seriously, then you're going to have to take your scenes and your models seriously.
So the question is really, what is your goal? Is this for fun and to play around with 3D stuff, or are you trying to make a professional work?
These are two scenes I made recently, both of which are my own custom assets. They each probably took over an hour to just set up. Building all the objects for each scene took a few months.
