Do you think that there are many people that are creative but they can't write or draw comics that well?

I mean there could be worlds of interesting ideas in their mind but they just can't write or draw to let people see the stories that are in their head. Just imagine someone creative like JK Rollings but they can't write or draw, so you would never know or see what they can come up with

Do you think there is a lot of wasted potential because of this?

What are your thoughts?

If you have good concepts but are not good at writing or drawing, you can still seek collaboration with authors who are skilled in these areas.

Moreover, I believe that if they put in more effort and practice using the correct methods, they still have a very good chance of achieving good results in writing or drawing.

yeah, everyone has to learn the skill to be able to express themselves. this is just how every artist/writer's career starts, and if people don't put in the effort to learn, then they'll never be able to share their stories with the world. there are probably loads of people who never or couldn't (though "couldn't" may be subjective) put in the effort to learn, and so they never shared their works

You are absolutely right. There are many people like that and I'm an example of it. When I was still learning how to draw, I was able to come up with very interesting storylines imo although I was young and had little experience so my executions wasn't the best but the core of my storyline if worked on well would be great. But writing is a whole new experience for me because I only recently started writing, I only drew comics before. So yeah a lot of people just bury their dreams and probably gifts of storytelling because of their life isn't going in that direction coupled with not knowing how to draw/write.
That said, there's still a fair share of work it takes to be able to come up with a good story and I think people who can come up with good story would probably know how to write or draw one way or the other in order to express themselves. I would have never been able to come up with stories the way I can now if I hadn't been drawing those poor bad little old comics back then.

I know many people who have good stories and ideas. But for some reason, they expect their work to be near perfect right away.

But in reality, this is impossible, so they either don't try to start, or give up quickly after experiencing a bit of frustration.

In short, this perfectionist mindset really causes many potentially talented people to end before they've even begun.

Creativity is not something that people have or not. Everybody can have a great idea, but great ideas alone are worthless. It is the execution that matters.

We have all seen things that in theory sound incredible, but the result sucks, and things that are pretty generic elevated to greatness by the execution.

There is the saying that no plan survives contact with the enemy and I think it is the same for ideas. When you translate it from your mind, it will never be the same as what you had in mind, so the only thing you can do is to try and do your best.

That's very true, I remember when I finished my first novel, my writing friend said that was an amazing achievement in itself as so many people start thinking they can write the perfect novel in one draft and then give up when it doesn't turn out like that.

I think most people have a creative side but it's sometimes difficult to find the right place to express it. I'd love to be able to play and compose music and draw better, but have found that however much I've practiced there's definitely a limit to my 'skills'.

Also, it seems many people start with ambitious plans to write a super long epic XD
But I think it's very important to tell a complete story within a short format. (Actually, I'm not very good at this point either )

The word creative implies that they are creating something, even if it's an attempt that might not 100% fit the vision in their heads.

I think just brainstorming and dwelling on ideas isn't really being creative if you don't really do anything with it.

I also believe that people who "can't" write/draw in the professional sense can still be creative. A bad book or drawing did take time to make and by someone who had an idea.

Yes definitely.

Used to know someone who can't really draw or dream up plots but dialogue... She was naturally good at writing dialog between characters.

Absolutely, but for a lot of people it isn't a lack of wanting to do these things that keeps them from creating, but a lack of access and resources. Whether it's a lack of time or the tools to get started, a lot of people just never take that first step to learn these skills so that they can tell their stories. There's also people in situations that keep them from doing anything creative. It's a privilege to have the time to sit and draw or write when there's so much going on in our lives, and some people just don't have that privilege.

for music, I lack rhythm and dexterity so I can hammer out something on a piano but it'll never be great

for art, it's just plain skill, it takes me a week to do a sketch that a proper artist could do in 5 mins! although I can do a good manga eye:grin:

It would be interesting to know how you would developed with the right training.
I´m a very slow but consistent learner myself. My feeling for rhythm got better
after a long period of daily training with a metronome, my abilitly to sketch got
better after 10 years of learning the fundamentals and training them daily like
a maniac
