Do you think you will finish your comic in your lifetime?

Touchy subject, but I feel like there’s so much to go into a comic that will tell a compelling story plus exploring its universe. I honestly think that I will not complete my comic during my life time. What about you?

As for finishing ALL of my stories now that's different
I'm in my 30s and I can genuinely say No I don't think so,
which sucks but what can you do

I've thought about this A LOT- especially because I'm OLD...the burnout and the injuries over the past number of years havent helped either.

I want to finish my webcomic- in fact I've shortened it down; I had this whole thing where I was going to do a backstory on the main villain so that you could see their motivation and their reason for their actions, amongst other things...but not enough time.

Don't know, but i know my series which I consider a condense full-circle story of what I wanted to tell, will have 36~39 chapters, or around 1000 pages (not counting side contents). So that's something tangible.

Hopefully I don't get terminal illnesses.

I see no problem finishing my 1st webcomic. It was planned on 5 books, each 25ish episodes and I'm starting the 5th book in two weeks. So at a weekly schedule, about a half a year from now I'm done. Then on to the next story, which won't be as long. Maybe 75 episodes.

I’m running in the mindset that if Andrew hussie managed to finish Homestuck, I can finish mine. Not counting the epilogues, cause nobody counts the epilogues.

I'll finish it, but I'm currently looking at finishing in 2033 soooo I'll check in with you in a bit. I passed a milestone of getting the first volume out on paper so hopefully I can go a bit faster now the proof of concept is working :3

I might not die of old age so based on the chances of other causes of death, I might not be able to finish my entire project. However, if old age is my only obstacle, I'd say yeah. I'll definitely be done long before reaching retirement age. I'll probably have a decade to work on another project and then if I'm still alive by the time I retire then I'll probably work on one more project just because by then I'll be used to just writing stories even if I can't pick up another pen to draw.

The Masked Warrior is planned to hopefully be done in August-September time, which means a year roughly of it being worked on. As at the moment I am focusing on smaller stories to get to grips with webcomic making.
If I am determined enough then I might get the larger projects done, if the stars are aligned correctly of course and health doesn't start kicking me again

I'm aiming to finish my first/main (the chicken comic) in a few years (and maybe redraw a few episodes for funsies), so it's definitely possible. Ironically, I want to slow down, not speed up (I'm half-assing at 30 panels per week and it's killing me XD)

Might have other series started by then too, so there's no telling about them yet.

I hope so! It's only 30-ish chapters. But if it feels like I can't finish it in comic form, there's always switching to light novel format

My comic was intentionally written to only be 12 chapters so my partner doesn't get carpel tunnel. That said I have ideas for second season, but it could technically end after one and thus be completed.

So with what is currently planned, I think it will be finished in my lifetime if me and the artist can manage to stay together

I do. I tried to create a smaller scale story for my first comic. It's taken me a few years which is a little longer than I expected but I'm currently working on chapter 13 out of 17 so I can almost see the finish line!

My next comic on the other hand is on a much larger scale and will probably take me like 15 years to finish at my current pace there are probably so many stories of mine I won't be able to tell and that's a little hard to grasp lol

I fear not since I've so many ideas I want to bring to life, but there's so much to it. Every time I think I'm getting close to completion with one of my stories I reach a roadblock which means I went the wrong direction and now I gotta backtrack. And then there's the art. If I didn't have to work and was more skilled, I'd been on my 5th book by now lol

I've though about doing something simple, like an adaptation of a fairy tale, but even that has its own hang ups

Yes, because I sort of just have for my main series XD I'm in the epilogue/tying loose ends up stage. It took my 9 years to complete the main storyline which amounted to about 1885 pages so far or 1385 Tapas episodes. I did have the idea for most of the characters and story since Grade 6, but it took a few years to figure out the details/arcs and learning to draw better (and still learning), then 9 years to create. Not focusing on how long it was going to take and more on the creating aspect made the whole process much less overwhelming.
