Ideally, no. :T
I've accepted that I'll probably have to work on most of my projects alone, and I'm willing and able to do it...but having collaborators would be really nice; and I wish it were more of a viable option for me.
I actually wouldn't mind inconsistency at all?? Like, I think the Western trend of having a 'baton relay' of different artists on the same comic run is actually the way to go (I don't know if that's still a thing though...).
If I had my way, I'd hire a small team of artists and rotate through them maybe a couple months at a time (or one story beat at a time) so that everyone has a chance to rest up or pursue other freelance work before returning. Or, y'know, if one artist is sick or injured, another one can pinch-hit for them.
As long as all your hires are relatively skilled, the only issue would be the readers' particular preference...I know I used to get mad when an artist I really liked was replaced by one I did NOT like. ^^; But if the story was good I'd still read the comic (at least to wait for another artist to come along), and now that I can see things from the other side, I think a few pissed-off 12-year-olds is a small price to pay for artists' health and well-being.
