Does anyone else like reading through their own comic?

because sometimes i do that with my own and i was curious if anyone else did or found the idea weird,,, like,,, not to check for any mistakes, but just to read like you would with someone elses comic?? does that sound egotistical?

Haha I get bored when I read through mine because I know what will happen.
But if I haven't read them in a year or longer, I'll enjoy it more.

I do it.

Sometimes I'll make a page or a couple pages that look really nice to me and i didn't think i could do that, a colour scheme or angle i liked. Or a facial expression that made me giggle. Sometimes there is just a joke or plot point that i enjoyed making and would go back to read it.

I think using the word egotistical is rediculous because you are allowed to take pride in you work and i don't get why liking your skill is so looked down upon. You can go back and admire your work. I do because it both boost my esteem as a artist, pushes me to be better, and just all together makes me happy.

Also it's good to reread your story because maybe there wad a forshadowing or plot point you forgot you had drawn/wrote.

Of course. I read it every couple months, because it is so easy loose track of the flow of the story. Since I only have time to draw one page per week, it becomes interesting for me to see if everything still works after a while.

Also, I draw what I like - So it is nice to read it.

(But it becomes painful when you see art that you really don't like anymore...)

Sometimes, I'm so close to the material, completing one page at a time per week, that I lose the big picture concept of the chapter. I script out the full issue before drawing the pages. So when I'm working on each page, it become kind of a mechanical task of just drawing.

Revisiting and reading through the whole series is a great reminder of what's been accomplished so far, and how the story has grown. And I honestly enjoy my story and characters.

Much like everyone else here, I often try rereading through my whole comic - but more frequently I only reread certain pages.

I like to go through mine just because I like seeing how much I improved! Also to see what I could've done better for future reference - but most of the time it's honestly because I'm bored and I'm thinking of a certain page that I get the urge to reread again.

Guilty! I mean yeah the art makes me cringe a lot but it kind of brings back memories of the process of making the pages. How I came to make certain scene, what I went through to make that page finally work the way I wanted it too, what tones worked best. Idk, looking back at them just encourages me to make more pages and see what else I'm capable of making. All the those times I sat down reading shojo mangas, I finally have my own to feel proud of.

@ohcaptain that was Donald Glover because i was thinking about that specific sketch while reading this topic.

Another thing i remembered is sometimes i get a little out of it, no motivation to do nothing especially my comics. And usually when i go back and read my comic it reminds me of where i started and the story i want to tell and whoosh I'm all motivated and excited again. <3 <3

Oh most definitely! And with each comment or bit of feedback I get, I usually go over the corresponding page/s to try and see it through the viewers' eyes. WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE but it ends up being really fun. I think we naturally have a curiosity about what our work might look like separated from us and sometimes you can conjure up that alien-eye for a few moments.

And like @Tanisha said, it's a terrific way of giving yourself encouragement! I've been really surprised by some of my pages and layouts, "Whoa, I did that! I can totally do this again!"

Yes!! I feel this way too! If I don't love looking at my own art, why the heck did I make it?

I shamelessly reread my own archives, and I shamelessly laugh at my own jokes, and sometimes I go back to check something on an older page and accidentally read through the whole darn thing again. xD I like my comic and my characters a lot!!
I can understand making something and being done with it, for sure; but I think if you still love it and it still makes you laugh or makes you excited and you want to read it after you've made it, that's an awesome thing, not a shameful thing!

Yes, sometimes I'll finish something top-notch and I'll stare at it for hours. ( - w - )

I do like to go back to old chapters and read through them again. Looking at old pages makes me both happy and angry. Angry that I once thought these choices were the best, and happy that I now think I can do better.

I sometimes read through and it inspires me for the things that come next...I get a lot of ideas doing that.
