Hey guys, I recently been looking for good places to find free reference poses and photos for anatomy and the like, namely after being inspired by this post in another topic.

So does anyone have any sites or resources they could direct me to please? Also, hoe you guys trace over/draw from those reference poses while still keeping your character's proportions correct would be great to hear as well. Thank you!

oh yes! aside from pinterest or using oneself as a reference for poses i really like using Magic Poser

https://webapp.magicposer.com/369

it doesn't allow much for changing the scale of the body (like weight and accurate height) but it's good for a quick skeleton of a pose and using the fov tool allows you to create refs for foreshortening

Some other places/links are here:

Hope these help

i love this one for references! theyve got a lot of dynamic and realistic poses & body types, very useful

this site has kinda mixed quality of poses, but it gives you timed references for doing quick life drawings, which is a good exercise

My readers recommended me to try the sets of pre-made 3D poses from the Manga Studio programm. And now I use it

Everyone has already mentioned pretty good sites for references so I won't add any more (mainly because I can't think of any that haven't been mentioned already...)

I can answer your second question on how to keep your character proportions while tracing/drawing poses is however.
I would suggest to not copy the entire figure you are using for reference. Instead look for the line of action and draw the skeleton (or stick figure) of the reference you are wanting. Then layer your character over the top of that.
This way you don't have to find a reference of muscular/skinny/chunky/whatever other body proportions that matches your character.

Design Doll needs to be downloaded and is pretty good, but uhh.... you can't save the pose unless you buy the premium version, which is a hefty, hefty chunk of cash. ($80 last time I checked)

Other than that, in the free version you can change each component body type (hands, legs, arms, torso, etc) and proportions (from anime to realism).

Another great thing is that there are design doll forums that you can get user-made poses from, and user-arranged proportions.

I just screenshot the pose I need and then use it as a rough guide for perspective, etc
