Does anyone sit down and go through their comic and novel statistics?

Hey Guys

Am doing this at the moment. I know that they say statistics tell us nothing but am hoping that they can be helpful!

It occurred to me that with all the info we are provided with here on Tap and Line it makes sense to try and make sense of them!

Do people study their statistics about what is most popular / least etc. and if there are dips or increases? At the moment one I thing I notice is that on most series there is usually an interest drop after the first page?

What information have you gleaned from your stats?

I'm obsessed with mine, lol. I have learned that interesting sounding titles get more views than normal sounding titles. So, one of mine from Dead Man Walking is called "I'm invincible when I'm naked!" which has a ton more views than one called "Gods of Life and Death". But then it was also pointed out to me that the newest one will get the most views if you traffic spikes because it goes to the newest automatically. So when it got featured on the staff picks the views jumped on the newest ones. I'm also experimenting with posting at different times of day and different days of the week and seeing which gets more views. So far i'm still unsure, but it's an interesting experiment!

I use the statistics, but for something else entirely. I just look at the comment statistics about once a month (normally at the end of the month). I'm terrible at looking through comments, so being able to see that someone left one at some point in the month lets me know I need to find it and read it.

I look at my statistics pretty regularly. I'm not too worried about individual pages doing better than others, but watch that my over all monthly trend is hopefully doing as well or better than the last. And it's just kind of fun looking that stuff over?

I think this has to do with people checking out the comic. If ten people pop over and look at the first episode, five stay to read and five decide they're not into it, then naturally that first episode is a little higher in views than everything else. That's always been my guess, anyway!

I remember to go through them when I remember them or when my best friend brings up how far we've come in life. He always goes, "We started doing this for nothing else but giggles and look where it brought us. You have 500 people, I have 2K on tumblr." And then I look through the stats and go, ah consistency or holy shit why did I gain so much attention only on this day? XD

Honestly my comic isnt long enough for the stats to mean anything other than showing that its getting more traction.

I check it sometimes but I try not to focus too hard on them, I feel like it makes me focus more on numbers than my work. But is nice to see the trends over time.

I religiously look at my stats but I have no explanation for them.
Like, why did my story peak on March 29th. I looked at all my post, nothing jumps out. Nothing indicate why there would be a huge increase in traffic. But there was, and I don't know why? And I'm still thinking about it.

And those red percentages, great when their green but annoying at the same time.

I get depressed about it too! Which is why I try not to look at them too often.

I used to, but not anymore. Since Tapas has such a low readership for novels (especially the free ones), I stopped checking the stats because I assume they'll always be low.

I'm kinda hoping the low readership for the free novels will change a bit as time goes on and novels aren't such a new concept for Tapas, but I will remain just hopeful
