Hello all!
So, as the title says, a "drabble" is a story made up of only 100 words. I discovered this format of writing when I used to be more active on Wattpad. Anyway, I thought it'd be a fun idea to start a thread where you can write a drabble about whatever you want; any genre you want. Even if you're more of an artist, I'm sure you can draw a drabble - it'd just have text that's no more than 100 words.
[Personally, I think writing a drabble is great writing practice. It forces you to confine a story/concept to what's most important; find alternate words that get across the meaning you're trying to convey; find clever or unique ways to tell your story/concept, etc. That's how I see it at least.]
Anywho... Here's the drabble I wrote in April 2017 for the WattZombie "Manning the Wall" drabble contest (which I also got an honourable mention for):
Scope
Atop this makeshift wall, I lie on my stomach with my sniper rifle in hand; focused on the forest tree line in the distance. I’m drenched in sweat as the sun beams down on my back, and a damp towel protects my underside from the hot metal sheet. I wait with bated breath that nothing comes into my sights. I know the world has drastically changed; people have changed; I’ve changed. However, the anxiety that comes with pulling the trigger never changes for me. Whether alive or undead, it’s still a kill that I have to burden to protect others.
Hope you liked it! Let me know what you think! Thanks!
