I write a personal one usually. Mostly because I only have 52 subs on my comic. A new sub is an event for me.

Your figure drawing will naturally get faster as you learn. Fortunately there's loads of great books on gesture and figure drawing that I found improved my work speed. The classic is Andrew Loomis, but it's quite old now and the techniques are very... technical! A good one I found is Figure Drawing …

I, too, suffer from this. I'm trying to break my perfectionism but the abuse of the "step back" tool continues. I can do a page in 8-10 hours, which isn't bad considering how they come out, but I've recently started an experimental project with a much looser style and it's alarming how much quicke…

The first thing I would say is that while you have a fun and loose style, it's a little hard to follow the action from moment to moment. There's only a few pages here, but you could do well to set up more breathing room between jokes (some of which are actually pretty funny!) and use more establishi…

I tend to try and limit myself to thinking about just the limited stories which I think are "goers". Right now, aside from my main comic Templars of the Shifting Verse (which has the scope of a number of different stories), I have an all-ages comedy comic idea, a superhero graphic novel and a sci-fi…

The latest page for Templars is a bit of a spoiler, so here's the page before: [image]

119 words! Here's a story that's sort of condensed from a novel I'm writing. Everything here decays. Except me. Everything here is covered in dust. Except me. They found me in the wreckage, the didn’t understand. They thought I would lead them to a new future. I did not. They took everything …

My oldest art is older than some of the users of this site! 2005 - I was actually pretty terrible considering some of the 15 year olds on here! For some reason I used to put a crappy noise filter over so much of my old stuff. [image] 2011 I think I improved the…

Maybe I'd finally get some pages of my comic done.

This is my comic. I only update it once every few months, so it's exposure is about as low as you'd expect. It was written as a traditional comic, so it hurts me to upload it page by page. There's only 11 episodes, but there's nearly 100 pages in there to dive into.

Alright then. I suppose it's a good a time as any to try and get my YA space opera off the ground. I'll upload chapters as they come - raw and unedited - so people can read and feedback. Then at the end of the month when (hopefully) there's a full story there, I'll go back over it and, using any rel…

This is a great idea for a thread! Two comics that I dig right now are Mr Simple and Gateway City. The former is just incredibly funny and straightforward, and the latter - though I haven't read it all the way through - has some amazing artwork and really nice composition. It's really under …

Here's the latest page I have finished. It's not online yet (I upload in batches). [image] There's also no dialogue on it, but look at the pretty art. This is the second last page of Chapter 3 of:

I'm quite a snob with my free time, so I tend to at least get a steer for what I'm watching before I spend time watching it. There's probably a load of films I saw as a kid which were terrible, but I don't remember any specifically making me feel bad. However, I did find Transformers 2 to be terri…

He's uncredited, but my brother is pretty much the editor on Templars. He tells me when my scripts suck.

The general rule of covers is that they should tell something of a narrative themselves (or at least give people an idea of what's going on inside (sometimes you can do a bait and switch this way, like those classic Superman covers where he's a dick)). Technically I draw my covers initially as pen…

Here's Templars ginger, Urn Baron: [image] Unfortunately for this thread he's only slightly cute when drawn in the above cartoony style.

I've been doing this comic for years and it's never quite caught on (largely thanks to my sporadic upload schedule but partly because it might not be everyone's cup of tea). It's currently a large way through it's third chapter and around 80 pages in total. It has been described as "Criminally un…

I love them! Do you sell them anywhere? You should. Anyway, I do a bit of pixel art on the side. I keep meaning to make a game but I can't get my head around coding... guess I could give RPG Maker a shot but it might trash my art! [image] My comic is: (gotta g…

The obvious two for Templars is Watchmen and Sandman. Watchmen paints a lonely lot of ex-heroes who've fallen from grace (one quite literally). The most compelling character for me was Doctor Manhattan, and I became interested in detached characters. The Sandman creates a world outside our world…

Love it! Incredibly jealous of your art!

You might like my comic. It's a fantasy story with a romance undercurrent and flashes of horror and mystery. Though the romance isn't so much "will they/won't they" as "they did, for hundreds of years, it faded".

Before I started working full time I went often to the Drawing London on Location Meetup group. Drawing London on Location London, GB 9,364 Members [image] This is a great group for anyone interested in drawing London's …

It's a sincere comic exploring themes of history, faith, responsibility and love. It's also about magical immortals who fly around in a Tudor house and fight shadow-men in the 1950's of a post fantasy world. How much you enjoy it depends on which of those two descriptions appeals to you. Page s…

I always miss these things! But this looks like a lot of fun. So I'd be right up for a Halloween art event  This is the first Halloween since legendary horror comic artist Bernie Wrightson passed away (Swamp Thing, Marvels' Frankenstein, House of Mystery etc) it'd be nice to do an art submission o…

The latest batch of pages for Templars is up! Here is one of them. [image]
